Grassland #butterflies keep declining in Europe. Since 1991, the average abundance of the 17 grassland butterfly species has declined by 50% in 2023, highlighting the urgent need for more actions to protect and restore natural and semi-natural grassland habitats.

Butterflies extinct in NL: Pearl-bordered Fritillary (zilvervlek, Boloria euphrosyne). Always rare, only 219 records. Would pop up at a site (from D or B?), could be abundant for a few years, and then disappeared again. Last collected specimen from 1959, after that only a few claims without evidence

UK injects Β£14.5 million in land use and net zero research
Five UK research projects have each received a share of Β£14.5 million under phase two of the Transforming Land Use for Net Zero, Nature and People programme.
