Further, they are human beings who are also under extreme stress and workload. Some are US federal staff. We try and alert authors about delays; these are mainly because of all the chaos created by awful political decisions crossed with a small pool of reviewers in a specialized field.

If you are unsure of anything, please ask me. If a decision puzzles you or even infuriates you, a clear query to me as EIC is the best path. However, please don't immediately assume something sinister happened. Mistakes from reviewers & coordinating editors do happen - they are human beings.

For Restoration Ecology, the 'editorial office' is solely Valter Amaral (full time Managing Editor) and me as EIC (which works out to about 0.05 FTE in my job as a prof). Yes, some journals have big offices/many paid staff. We don't. We will always help you with article contents & decisions.

A gentle reminder that for this journal (and many others) the EIC and Managing Editor don't have any authority or rights over what the publisher charges or how they configure their emails. That's not a complaint, simply a reminder that queries about those have to be sent to the publishing company.

The yearly conundrum: People send in MS, should we send for reviewers w/ 10 days before holidays in many places? We did send out - to be kind to authors. But we added a note on our boilerplate reviewer-ask saying we know this is close to holidays for many & ignore the usual 3-4 week ask.

Between the real me and this account, it's hard to keep up!

Once late term madness ends, I'll catch up though.

Hello Conservation Letters, I am the same, except for restoration ecology (also broadly construed). All we need is for Conservation Science & Practice & Ecological Solutions and Evidence to show, and we can have a poker game or something. Maybe @dochpjones.bsky.social has ESE here already?

Of course, like my personal account, it will take me awhile to catch up on follow-backs. Please bear with me. It does not help that I have a partially torn rotator cuff (me, not the journal, LOL).
