i think the only reason it can be so catastrophic is because we dont give people sufficient breaks during the day and enough time off, so mental burdens hit people all at once the moment theyre able to take a breather

i actually looked this up a while back

1. night isnt as stimulating and busy as daytime, so people are alone with themselves
2. melatonin, seratonin, and dopamine change before bedtime, which is nighttime for daytime people
3. for night people, our brains are just wired to be more active at night

it also gave us an amazing piece of characterization in that ken understands what ryu is thinking without them needing to speak at all
