An orange traffic sign with a black cat leaping across it.Its nose, ears, and eyes stand out. It looks old-fashioned, like a 50’s style illustration. This cat has seen things. Below it says β€œwatch out for animals” in Japanese (動物注意)

A font sample showing Japanese hiragana rendered as slender black cats with ears, eyes, claws and the occasional footprint. It’s very kawaii. C'est mignon mais pas ennuyeux.

Sure, everyone knows about emoji, but have you encountered nekomoji?

A stylish black cat peers over a barrier. β€œIt awaits on the other side of the door,” the text reads. I can’t figure out what the very stylized kanji on top say.. I’m guessing β€œsneaky cat” or similar? From https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0C976B627

Here’s a very stylish one. The smaller stickers and signs make it clear these are meant to warn visitors an indoor cat likes to slip out the door, given an opportunity. Be careful!

Alright, the good news (and bad news) is after the initial hit adding additional items to the same shipment isn’t as steep. So you can amortize the cost out by… buying more books all at once πŸ™ˆ

And, to be clear, I still have some of those $20 import CDs I bought back in 1987 πŸ˜† how many 39 year old things do you have lying around still (children don’t count!)

I checked how much it would be to ship to Canada (β€œmaybe this is import taxes?”) and it was even worse πŸ™ˆ

Screenshot for a manga from Japan that costs more to ship than the book costs. Yes, it’s cheaper than flying to Japan. I dunno, man.

I have no problem spending $20 on an import CD (that was $57 in 1987 dollars, and I bought import CDs back then as well) but I’m having trouble paying $25 shipping for a $21 book. It just seems… wrong. A paperback book doesn’t weigh a whole lot!

I’d once gotten a promo CD from a label that ended up being better than the album I’d bought from them πŸ₯³

A $7 CD that cost like $11 to ship to California from the Nederlands. I guess they felt bad so they padded it out with another album, nice!

I’d ordered a CD off Bandcamp and the label threw in a bonus CD along with some stickers. Free music!

Someone famous asked, perhaps facetiously, how to block message spam a follower replied, β€œbuy an Android phone and learn how to use it,” which was, hello, both rude and unhelpful. There’s options to screen messages in Settings. Yes, on Android too, I guess.

Moonwake Coffee Roasters in San Jose, California is considered one of the best in the Bay Area by people with better taste than me. Here we see a cup of coffee on a granite kitchen counter. There’s a Fellow Ode coffee grinder and Technivorm Moccamaster. You can spend a lot more money making a cup of joe, but this suits me fine.
