Cunt.
Unbelievable. Or perhaps, tragically, highly believable.
I knew it immediately.

I swing my axe. Blood splashes into my eyes. I should be more careful. I try again, this time mother’s head comes off cleanly. There’s no splashing. At least, none in my eyes. I can see now how I’m going to fit all of her body parts in the cupboard under the stairs. Neat.

Humans are the best monsters. I write about people, so yes, they appear.
I’m not sure I even deal in moulds!
When I see the word ‘archetype’ I tend to think of ‘stereotype’ and ‘cliche’, so I avoid.
#HorrorWritersChat
I wouldn’t know where to start writing archetypes. I don’t even have protagonists in my stories. The starting point is a world of shit and death, then it takes a downward turn. 🤷
You need to read my book. I can tell you stories about screenings I’ve introduced and audience reaction!
I’ve gone with that because I’m contractually obliged to.
I’d better say The Thing, considering I’ve written a book about it.

Jez - ‘kitchen sink’ prosaic horror - what is ‘action horror media’? I honestly have no idea. Movies? Does that count? I’ll say films then.

"Jez Conolly's "storied" interior odyssey… Capture Spiral is a user's guide for a night gallery of childhood-origin neuroses, and a celebration of the "great escape" we call imagination."
Stephen Volk, author of Ghostwatch.

I’ll give it a go, but if I had to choose a word to describe the horror that I write, it’d be ‘inertia’ 😳
#WritersCoffeeClub 11 March: Does your writing reflect your morals? How so?
I hope not! The vast majority of my stories, and their outcomes, are thoroughly amoral. Why? Because:
a) that’s just how they come out
b) I wouldn’t presume to inflict my actual morals on a reader - they have their own.
Feast your eyes on these beauties!
I’m from Cleethorpes originally and I was very familiar with ‘kali’ from the sweet shop, which was like a more solid form of sherbet.
Not untrue

Combine that with stories about the Lincoln Imp and you could start to believe that the smell of sulphur in that part of England isn’t purely because of the drains.
I found my copy in a charity shop some years ago, for just £2. I didn’t realise at the time
a) quite what a bible it is
b) quite what a bargain that was
I’m just reviewing a WIP, and by crikey, have I over-hyphenated! Oops, there I go again!
Boris Johnson vibes
It’s not a real stork, if you’re wondering.
I think I speak for the vast majority of my British countryfolk, when, in response to his recent remarks, I say to Mr. Trump: ‘if you’d be so kind, please fuck off and die soon, you bigoted, lying, murderous, syphilitic rapist and child molester. Thank you very much’.
Well, at least I was polite.
Stupid memory! I read a great quote recently and I can’t now remember the source. However, it’s good advice: write the kind of book that, in sixty years time, somebody will find at the bottom of a pile of books in a secondhand book shop, and think to themselves ‘this is weird, I’m gonna buy it’.
Yes, have done. One or two I was already following, but not the vast majority. The more the merrier!
