After 6 long years, 30+ scientific publications, 2000+ clinical hours, 40+ presentations, countless cups of coffee, and a wealth of love and support, I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology! So proud to be the first doctor in my family and excited for what the future brings 🌟 #PhDone

This week I started my new position as a T32 NHLBI Postdoctoral Research Scholar through University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine's Cardiovascular Behavioral Medicine Training Program! So excited to receive this specialized training on cardiometabolic research and eating behaviors!

Also in the spirit of normalizing rejection - I also had several symposia rejected, including other research studies on weight stigma and suicide research among trans and gender diverse youth. I still think that research is so important and worth doing, but rejection is a ubiquitous part of academia

#ICED2025 was one for the books! I was so excited that we had a full house for our panel on weight stigma, “feeling fat” across the size spectrum, and eating disorders. A great chance to connect/reconnect with other scientists and practitioners that care about eating disorder advocacy!

All of my symposia were rejected this year 🫠 but just when I was reaching radical acceptance about finally having a conference I can kick back and just go to talks I had a clinical roundtable accepted

Sadly they ended up being double booked haha, but they will be presented Friday 5/30 at 2:30pm! :)

We also found that individuals with worse interoception reported increased urges to binge eat as well as restrict. Overall, we found evidence that weight neutral approaches would be extremely helpful in disordered eating treatment settings and interoception is a promising treatment target

My dissertation study is now out *open access* at Appetite! We found that individuals with binge eating symptoms who were randomly assigned to be exposed to weight stigma engaged in *less* caloric consumption - many implications for social identity threat!
