There's such a slippery conflation between saying 1.5 (the temperature) is not achievable, 1.5 the AR6 budget's not achievable, net zero's not achievable - so lets all keep using fossil fuels
They were going to pass rules to phase out gas stoves, until they received 20,000 public comments against the regulations. Except, oops, it turns out the comments were generated by AI.
idk it would fit about 4 bins in?
The other thing it does is obscure uncertainty. Modelling typically doesn't deal with the relative uncertainties of different inputs. Trajectories that are very uncertain - like hydrogen etc - get best estimates, and they are treated the same as technologies with much higher certainty.
I think the problem is the way we interpret and use it. It's an if this then that exercise - it gets used as a single source of truth.
Always bluegrass. My dog likes songs with his name in.
Isn't the point of those guys that they learned morals from computers?
Labor should ignore farmers who are concerned about industrial infrastructure across the land they farm? Hm
I noticed they redacted a web page. Maybe they redacted anything with dots in, in case web link. idk. All pretty sloppy!
Do you think it said Phd?
Is 'grats' Gates?
Spinella reported to be EA to Leon Black - reported to have funded Herzog's campaign.
Isaac Herzog, special guest of the Australian government this week, is in the Epstein files.
It appears he went to the pedo rape torture island, alongside Ehud Barak, former Israeli PM, in 2014, long after Epstein’s conviction and outing as a predator.
...Why not just pay people sufficiently (eg annual reward) to encourage uptake/participation.
If we have all the equpment in place to enable a system like this - you're already sending electronic signals. Why do you need price signals then. Given it's an essential service, why not set fair and affordable prices (eg basic volumetric), and let the electronic signals manage.
One thing I've seen is people like politicians conflating 1.5 the AR6 emissions budget, and 1.5 the temperature. Because of recent records, people will say 1.5 is no longer achievable, but this will sometimes be shifted from the temperature to mean the AR6 1.5 budget is not achievable.
The Carlisle River Fire in the Otways from yesterday with a 45 degree day tomorrow.
I recently discovered we are only planning for sea level rise expected for 2100 when we build new homes (AR6, so lower than current estimates) - even though sea levels will rise for ~10,000 years. We are planning new suburbs that we know will go under water.
day 3 on the fogartys gap/ Harcourt fire. still heaps of mopping up to do inside the fire footprint.
in good news it seems the southery wind has slowed the movement of the fire front on Leanganook.
What does Israel do?
The nuclear device one seems very strange. Is that hinting at something specific?
Do you think there are aspects of the way the IPCC is set up/operates that foster underestimation of climate risk?
Thanks Richard. I don't know enough about how our land use emissions are counted here, and I don't even know who does!
Horseshoe Beach, Newcastle NSW #PeoplesBlockade #Protestival
My state's emissions accounts are drawn down massively by our native forest growth, despite widespread logging (until recently.)
This has always confused me too. I don't understand why we get a credit for natural forest growth on the leger, when presumably, this would have been part a natural equilibrium pre industrialisation.
One of the houses in the Gaza Strip
Ive always thought this should apply at the household level - heating and hot water vs swimming pool heating
Besides the fact that we want price signals like negative prices during solar hours to persist long enough to support solutions that will bring the peak down, not just not add to the peak - like batteries, and flexibility for existing loads.
Would you assume that assessments like this are using values from CMIP6, with policy adjusted but not climate inputs like sensitivity?
