Cyberlegends 2025, the Exxos Forum meetup held in Toddington a couple of weeks ago, was great fun. Here's some of what I saw.

Featuring, among others, @srusher.bsky.social. And I think @a1exh.bsky.social sneaks into the background once or twice...

Enjoying all the VCF posts?
Live in the UK or does EasyJet, Ryanair or Wizz fly from where you live to Luton?
At a loose end in early October?
CYBERLEGENDS!
Sure, it may be a bit smaller than VCF and probably has a more Atari ST flavour, but why the heck not, eh?

A quick hack for an external drive A on the STE
Hello! I'm messing with internal and external floppies again. I want to boot Gotek game images from an external drive. This time on the Atari STE. Nasty hack. Don't do this. π

More head scratching and a few more goes, feeling for hot things and pressing in chips. Oh. That CPLD still needs its 3V3 rail doesnβt it? I still havenβt fitted the Pico permanently have I? FFS. Donβt bring up boards when tired. And donβt cheap out on regulators! π€‘

Can it boot up in quiescent mode now? Noβ¦ Ah wait. Iβm interposing a chip on the motherboard, arenβt I? Ha! Iβd better fit that chip in my board then, hadnβt I. Fit thatβ¦ try againβ¦ still noβ¦

Attempting to bring up a new project last night. Need to flash the CPLD with a βstatus quoβ (do nothing, but safely) firmware. Power up in situ. Canβt flash it. Oh wait! Yes, itβs a 3V3 part and Iβm borrowing that rail from a Pi Pico and Iβve not fitted that yet. Fit it temporarily. Flashes okβ¦

I bypassed the timer in mine then got worried about how hot the case seemed to get. I put it back as a bit of a safety mechanism.

[B-Roll] Watchy follow up. Is my ESP32 kaputt?
I had a few suggestions on my Watchy video about what was going on with the ESP32 programming so I decided to take another look at it. This time with measuring and stuff!

Hmm. There was a definite βwarm electronics smellβ when I opened her up, but couldnβt find anything properly hot. Itβs not fully bricked either as it will still run, just not program. I maybe need to get the scope on it.

I took my non-flashing Watchy apart again and manually shorted GPIO0 to ground when powering up to put it into programming mode and still nothing on the serial line despite it recognising the UART bridge. Has something gone pop?

Watchy the open source wristwatch. First impressions & trying to use it.
Not so retro this. Well, unless you liked how the Casio calculator watch looked on your skinny seven-year-old wrist back in 1985 and want to pretend this is that. But here I have a look at an open source wristwatch I impulse-purchased a while back. What do you think?
