It was just one iffy night of sleep post chemo, and I have come through the worst of it now. Should be ok for the next 2+ weeks.

04.03.2026 02:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The last 5-6 months have made me even more fed up with the publishing business. I just don't want to think about it at all. But I still like writing...and I don't feel like I can fully separate those two things.
04.03.2026 00:08 β π 19 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0actually, I believe the reason I was even thinking of this yogurt (despite not having it in like 20 years) was because someone posted the salted caramel one on instagram within the past week.
03.03.2026 23:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0yeah, that's probably the one I'd pick!

Heads up Canadians!
An Albertan food rescue charity cannot afford their rent and risk closing. Watch this CBC report on their services, and then please share this post.

Apparently steroids can cause insomnia, so that explains a lot. (I take steroids on my chemo days.)
Possibly I was told this before, but who knows. Hard to keep track of the side effects of everything.
salted caramel wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd happily eat it! They all sound so good.

Maybe next time I have chemo, I'm going to get one of those high fat dessert-like Liberte yogurt tubs.
Ice cream doesn't appeal to me now but I have been able to eat yogurt.
lol I just went to threads for the first time today, and that (well, a quote of it) was the second post I was shown.

I am going to link to organizations that I know for sure are helping trans Kansans. This thread will develop slowly as I either know people or will vet them.
At this point we have not heard from anyone being helped via relocation resources. These exist, but I assume they are overwhelmed.
I think I read the book when I was quite young, but I do not remember it at all!
28.02.2026 23:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I'm not sure!
28.02.2026 23:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There were actually quite a number of actors of Chinese descent working in Hollywood around that time...but they rarely had lead roles.
28.02.2026 22:42 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Some of the smaller roles were played by Chinese-Americans, though. Eg. Keye Luke, who also played Number One Son in various Charlie Chan films. (Charlie Chan wasn't played by an Asian person.) He had a long career and Gremlins/Gremlins 2 were among his later films.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keye_Luke
A lot of the Chinese community in LA was involved in the production. There were tons of Chinese extras.
Anna May Wong would have been a logical choice for the lead actress, but she knew once they announced a white man for the lead actor that she wouldn't be cast.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Ma...
MGM spent years preparing for it, after spending $100k for the film rights to the book by Pearl S. Buck. (A white woman who grew up in China. Her parents were missionaries.) That's about ~$2 million today.
28.02.2026 22:38 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't really want to watch The Good Earth (because of the yellowface) but I'm a bit curious about the production because apparently a lot of money and care was put into recreating a Chinese farm in California. Maybe I will just look for some clips.

Less than ten bookstores to go to hit 500 stores registered for this year's #BookstoreRomanceDay! Still looking for stores from Alaska, Rhode Island, & both North & South Dakota. I'd also love to see more stores from Canada & other non-US locations.

House Republicans have just introduced a bill that would result in a NATIONWIDE book ban. Oh, the bill is also specifically transphobic. Contact your House Rep and ask them to publicly oppose this legislation. A few more thoughts in the thread about this action. bookriot.com/hr7661-book-...

Does anyone have *personal* good experience w. any trans relocation orgs, before I tell people to send them money.
I have had a not-great experience last year (just general total unresponsiveness - I know people are overloaded, but a "sry we're overloaded" would've been nice.)
Feel free to DM

It features library shelves on either side of a couple. There's a white woman with brown hair holding a map. Next to her is a white man with a leather messenger bag. They're looking at each other adoringly. The light pouring around them resembles the silhouette of George Washington.
Y'all, I have been waiting impatiently for a week to share this cover with you. And at long last, I can reveal the gorgeous cover for You, Me, and the Conspiracy to the world.
