Travelling from Ontario? These 32 countries have polio travel warnings The CDC has issued travel advisories for 32 countries due to poliovirus. Canada has flagged 30 countries. See the full list and vaccination requirements.

It's already making a comeback. It was in only a couple of countries before, I think. USAID and the CDC stopped support of the global polio eradication initiative, and now polio is in 30 countries. www.insidehalton.com/news/polio-t...

Why do we call it the “Middle East”?

A children's hospital is renamed for Dolly Parton and hopes to transform pediatric care in Tennessee Dolly Parton’s name might inspire full-throated sing-a-longs to her working woman’s anthem “9 to 5,” or evoke memories of thrilling days spent at her Dollywood theme park.

“Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital did not share how much Parton donated as part of the naming announcement. But Matt Schaefer, its president and CEO, said her support would ensure ‘every child who walks through our doors receives the treatment they deserve.’”

ICYMI, the state of Kansas just invalidated the drivers licenses of 1,000+ ppl whose gender markers did not match their assigned sex at birth. These markers had been legally changed.

There was no grace period. It's now illegal for them to drive to the DMV to get a new license (w/ incorrect gender).

The most tone deaf detail is the Core Civic statement that it says some of the kids’ artworks are “‘proudly displayed’ throughout the facility.”

So they’re proudly displaying pictures of sad faces and families behind a wire fence, and words that say “I want to go home.”

“When Shah Alam did not follow police commands to drop his curtain rod, they Tasered and beat him, then arrested him, Macaluso said.”

He didn’t speak any English. And he used the curtain rod as a walking stick.

Even just a tiny bit of empathy could’ve saved his life 😞

Trans Kansan's being stripped of their licenses due to having previously - legally - changed their gender marker is absolutely shocking.

A person who misses the letter - let's they moved and forgot to have their mail forwarded - could drive to work and be arrested for driving without a license.
