Upside of being dept chair is that you can plant an idea like this in your Spanish colleagues’ heads and then it happens!

Really nuts how many men were like "Me Too went too far, and I need to email Jeffrey Epstein about it."

We gotta come up with a better system than “everything rests on whether these twelve billionnaires are nice”

I love this! Gives me hope! I have been focused on shorter, slow reading due to current realities, but I love the idea of starting slow as cultivating a practice and building to more.

Fellow chairs, what are your practical tips for not spending all day everyday batting away emails? I need some strategies to get my actual work done

Brainstorming in class is a good idea. I am having them do in- class writing. I’m also going to try to work with them on an AI policy, which I think will help me understand better how they use it. There’s an extra level with teaching in French as they use it to translate & it’s very good now

And what are your secrets for actually preventing it from happening??

Omg congrats Joe! A fun fact about me is that my bff and I dominated the all county HS social studies fair in 1989 with our original play written from perspective of Tom P’s housemaids. We still quote it.

Just a reminder, for any of you kids who need to see it, good writing does not emerge seamlessly in the first draft. Feedback is the best and moving everything around is often part of the process.

Yes exactly. Imagine asking me to prove the opposite: why did X female writer wear corsets if JD did not? Like, I’m just trying to talk about this one person & I’m glad it’s making you think but…
(also I hate to break it to them about some of these other 19th c pants-wearers !)

Question from a Fr editor : En quoi le port du vêtement masculin par Dieulafoy est-il dans ce cas précis l’expression d’une identification trans avant l’heure, quand cela n’est pas le cas d’autres individus portant le vêtement masculin à la fin du XIXe?
Ummmm where do I start

The man at left separated the mother and baby at right. The mother is now in Venezuela. Baby daughter, in foster care in the US, exact location unknown.

Dad? He's in CECOT prison without trial — because he had tattoos.

Is social media part of the problem? I’m sick of electeds & leaders saying “we must stand up to this” as if by posting about it they are doing something.
besties, show, don’t tell! Like, we know it’s fascism, now lead us the way out!!
