Huge thanks to Beth Guilding who's running the London Landmarks half marathon to raise money to help us support more women who have had traumatic birth experiences. Do read her story - and donate if you can!

This has a very dubious emphasis on reducing trauma by improving women's "confidence" in labour. It doesn't recognise the main source of trauma, which is the labour experience itself, and the way women are treated by caregivers.

Good to see Amisha sharing her experience of placenta accreta. There's a real opportunity here to learn from Dr Otigbah, who identified what other senior doctors missed.

Many people who come to us for help ask if it's possible to seek compensation for psychological trauma. We're pleased to share this blogpost from Emma Wray and Darcey Jones of Hodge Jones and Allen outlining the law on claims for psychological trauma. www.birthtraumaassociation.org/news-campaig...
“Placenta accreta can cause catastrophic bleeding in minutes if it isn’t anticipated,” said Adhia. Hugely immportant campaign. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
"Women coming to the Birth Trauma Association describe a familiar pattern: being dismissed when they say something's wrong, procedures performed without real consent, and being made to feel like they're overreacting." Page 17. www.birthbabe.com/wp-content/u...
Enraging and saddening to read Hannah Barnes's report into maternity failings at Sussex. We see the same failings over and over again.

Really good to see a big turnout for the maternity commissioner rally today organised by Theo Clarke and Louise Thompson. Several MPs and peers were in attendance, along with lots of mothers (and even a few babies).

"She was then taken to a maternity ward with other new mothers and babies."
Shocking that this still happens.
