Today is Pythagorean Theorem Day, and it only happens on dates that fit the formula. 📐✨
 
Why July 24, 2025? Because it follows this legendary equation: a² + b² = c²

Spark had the best rainy day with the Canadian Severe Storm Lab. Guests got to learn how the Northern Hail Project team tracks down the perfect #storm and the tools used to get hail data!

They also showed off their storm-chasing vehicles and surveillance drones. ⛈️

We are grateful to the peoples who have been caretakers and stewards of this land, allowing us to thrive on this land today, where many cultures and Indigenous people from across Turtle Island, live together in peace and respect.

This science centre sits within a natural corridor for trade, migration, and hunting. It leads people, animals, and weather to the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, a traditional and current gathering place.

Spark recognizes and supports the depth of science within these Lands, Languages, Stories, and Peoples, that have been caretakers of this land, where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet, their home for thousands of years.

TELUS Spark Science Centre acknowledges it is situated on the Ancestral Lands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), and Traditional Lands of the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Îethka Nakoda First Nation, and more recently the Otipemisiwak Métis.

The festivities commence at 1:00 PM, promising a day filled with beautiful dances that echo the heartbeat of the plains.

Participate in Round Dances, enjoy great food and snacks, shop from the many artists, and enjoy drums and dancing all day.

Calgary’s predicted to get between 65 to 80 millimetres of rain this weekend! Which is more than a month’s worth of precipitation in regular conditions.
