Call your Representatives and Senators. Tell them to assert their Art. 1, Section 8 constitutional power. No war with Iran.

A reminder that we don’t need to invoke Germany to describe what we’re seeing with ICE. It was Americans who put Japanese people in camps on this land. This is not new.

American exceptionalism is a hell of a drug. We act like this stuff is foreign to America when it’s what formed America.

Warning: ICE is planning 30 days of immigration raids across Los Angeles County. If you or someone you know may be impacted, now is the time to set up a support system, identify a safe place, and stay alert.

Every one of these is more important than the mental acuity of the former President. We are in trouble. Focus.

Always a good time to follow Timothy Snyder!

This is worth celebrating! I know a lot of folks (including myself) who called their senators about this today, and it's important to celebrate a victory when we get it!

Public Health Didn’t Start with MAHA: What We Can Learn from Let’s Move! Many MAHA supporters claim it’s the first movement to prioritize America’s health, but history tells a different story.

Whenever I discuss the MAHA movement or critique aspects of it, I inevitably receive comments like, “At least we’re finally talking about ways to improve health and reduce chronic disease.” But public health didn’t start with MAHA.

The fact that an unelected rich private citizen is deciding at a governmental level what is and is not merit based is all you need to know about the true meaning of meritocracy in America.

Chapter 8: Children of the Positive Eugenics Movement The hidden roots of white evangelical parenting manuals

If you grew up with Dr. Dobson or Focus on the Family parenting methods, then you are a child of a positive eugenics movement. The continuation of the white supremacist patriarchy was the entire goal and they used religion to spread their ideology. open.substack.com/pub/strongwi...

I truly believe white evangelicals will be remembered in the history books for how successfully (and brutally) they indoctrinated children into their totalizing worldview. The width and breadth of it is frankly astonishing (growing up I just thought this is what everyone did with their kids!!!)

The funniest thing about an anti-Christian bias task force is that most Christians don’t even agree on what a real Christian is. So then, what is anti-Christian?

They’ve “No Scotsman” fallacied themselves into a corner. This only ends with the saints turning the weapons on each other.

Friendly reminder that Dr James Dobson started the FRC, he truly is behind the vast majority of anti-trans legislation (and it’s one of many reasons why I’m obsessed with besmirching him)

Chappell Roan is completely correct! Musicians are workers, and we deserve fair payment & dignity in our workplace. UMAW introduced the Living Wage for Musicians Act with Rep. Rashida Tlaib to build a fairer music industry and increase wages for musicians. We need your help to make it happen!

I recently reposted a former congressional staffer who said that when an issue got 20-30 calls it would get representatives freaked out and ready to do something. It takes less than you’d think, because so few people actually take that kind of action

Debunking can be a fun way to find an audience in science communication, but I think it can be over-relied on.

We should be celebrating more than we are defending, not just because it’s less miserable, but also because it’s good marketing!

Or perhaps that should say how dangerous it has always been. I need to read it.

Spread Information not panic
When reporting or signal boosting potential threats: provide as much information as possible!
S.A.L.U.T.E.
Size/Strength
"5 to 6 Armed Agitators"
Actions/Activity
"Harassing random people on the move"
Location & Direction
"Manhattan, East of Central Park, E 97th St"
Uniform/Clothes
"Dark Jackets, ballcaps"
Time & Date of Observation
"8:32 PM June01"
Equipment & Weapons
"They have Body Armor and Pepper spray"
Not a useful tweet: "proudboys spotted"
"Where? When? What are they doing?
How Many? What are they carrying?"
Use your Judgement!

The threat of ICE has tons of people on high alert, the result is claims of ICE seen without firm or specific info people can actually use — & sometimes, no ICE at all.

It’s never “ICE spotted in Queens,” but “4 SUVs labeled DHS seen parked on 57th & 59th in Maspeth at 2:34pm.”

Be specific!

Pick your focus and stick with it. We cannot fight in all fronts or we will become overwhelmed. But we can all peel off a corner in our area of expertise and begin to reveal effective strategies for resisting the chaos. Every single one of us has something to offer.

Resist despair. Resist hatred. Resist fear.

Cultivate joy. Cultivate open-heartedness. Cultivate hope.

It’s going to be hard. But this is how we win.
