Not sure how many people this will reach here, but there is no Pick 'Em or Weekly Preview this week.
My attention is on preparing some great conference championship game and NCAA Tournament content for you all right now, and I'd like to take the full 3 weeks leading up to it to make it special.
Mitch Marner, holy shit lol. What an overtime.
Wow! The Struble-Hutson pair has 2 combined Beanpots. That's pretty cool.
If Ovechkin continues to be on pace to break the record anywhere close to the game in Boston I’m gonna be so annoying for the next 6 weeks.
I apologize about it.
Wonder how much higher this could’ve gotten on ABC — I think everyone who wanted to find it did, but maybe some more channel flicker traffic there.
Damn. Oh well. I’m sure Cooper was relieved to be on the right side of one of these for once after the Kadri GWG against Colorado a few years ago.
Does Team USA win that game if Harley doesn’t play? He was great, and Morrissey doesn’t have that same lockdown ability.
The crowd actually ended up singing along to both songs - Americans and Canadians - it was really cool.
Can someone who watched on TV inform me as to if the too many men no-call in OT was that bad?
I honestly wasn’t really convinced one way or the other and they didn’t give us in the venue a replay.
I should probably go to bed instead of posting about how Matthews was actually really good and all of the players I don’t like were bad, but why would I?
I dunno if it was as much of a misread and more so the team was stuck between man-to-man and a box + 1.
If he’s in the slot he’s still not really covering McDavid, who can just step around or still get the shot off.
Lessons learned for Milan I guess.
Hoping we take just the best 4 lines instead of building whatever you wanna call Kreider/Nelson/Trocheck.
Skill guys can always grit it up… but the grit guys will never be able to skill.
McDavid is his guy as much as Matthews too. Generally the weak side winger should be close enough he can make a play on this.
Is Matthew Tkachuk guilty of perjury for making it seem like he was healthy when he wasn’t? People are saying.
No no no I was told Auston Matthews was bad
He still had a GREAT game. Doesn’t get to OT without him.
I’m personally more disappointed in Matthew Tkachuk saying he was healthy when he clearly wasn’t, or Jack Hughes getting knocked off the puck over and over.
This screenshot will do numbers but also this take kind of ignores the 2 primary assists, 83% xG For, and very clearly observable play driving.
He’s still in the passing lane too! It just got by him. Oh well. Run it back in Milan.
That was the best hockey game I’ve ever been to. Amazing night.
While I can’t speak for the whole stadium and suspect things were different in the balcony… it was very cool in our section when most of the people sang both anthems.
I muted all of the… buzzwords… related to tonight’s game and it’s made it a lot easier to be excited.
Mainlining the hockey of it all. Like old times.
Who’s tryna re-create this outside the Garden on Thursday with me;
youtu.be/mpgLRkIJPqw?...
Game 5 in Vancouver is to me, one of the best hockey games ever played. So maybe I’m just giving the rest of the series too much of a halo for that + the general vibes around each city in the others.
Raising the stakes a little bit… is this maybe the best final of the Bettman-era?
2009, 2011, 2024 all stand out as other potential picks, but Games 6 and 7 of 2004 kick ass.
Frank Seravalli reports La La Land has won best picture
🎶 I need a hero… 🎶
If I was supreme overlord of hockey… I’m rolling with the NHL’s existing WCOH/Olympic plan, but maybe doing men’s rivalry series Bo3s every year?
People want USA-CAN, SWE-FIN, CZE-SVK. Could also create a setting like rivalry series where teams can try things without trophies/medals on the line.
Things may have been different if this game was somewhere else — but generally Trump is not well liked in Boston.
Our section had lots of friendly conversation between Finns/Canadians/Americans, it was nice.
Thursday like you said… might be different though. Boston gets VERY rowdy for big games.
It was maybe 2% of the arena, so thankfully not a lot. Mostly stopped about a quarter through the song when they realized people weren’t going to join them.
Yeah, it was a few idiots who stopped as soon as they realized:
- no one was joining them
- the singing Canadians overpowered them
Curious if it’s the same on Thursday.
I believe the committee messed up putting Finland in over Alabama
