Someone once said, “Fascism is a counterrevolution against a revolution that never happened.” What fascists do is try to convince this reactionary base that they’re in danger, that they’re under dire threat from the liberals and the queers and the professors.

I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

Looks like a small swarm in the Fontana trend. This M4.2 had a few foreshcoks including a M3.0. The Fontana trend is a NE-striking lineation of earthquakes under the sediments of the San Bernardino Vslley. We believe it is one of the left-lateral striking faults that are south of the San Gabriels.

We made a big mistake when we decided that governments should and could communicate with the public during disasters largely via corporate-owned algorithmic social media websites.

We have to return to requiring governments to use truly *public* platforms designed for this use case that all can see.

Zito: What's become apparent in the last few years to me, is that a lot of people find the idea that they should have a responsibility and obligation to other people around them, highly oppressive. It's a level of egocentrism that even children would be admonished for. It seems that every time that any adjustment in behavior or endurance of friction was required for the greater benefit of everyone, people have reacted as if that sort of consideration is the equivalent of stripping them of their rights. It's been incredible to see.
