Evil Origin Kickstarter Campaign Underway Solo developer Kevin Musto launched a Kickstarter campaign for his upcoming title Evil Origin. The game is a gothic horror RPG that is said to take inspiration from titles such as Koudelka, Shadow Hearts, Resident Evil, and Castlevania. It is expected to release in 2026 for PC via Steam. Evil Origin takes place in the fantasy world of Dyad, and follows a Kresnik, effectively a vampire hunter, determined to hunt down a vampire who covets a dangerous relic. The game features turn-based combat and puzzle-filled exploration. Players can access a hub town inhabited by NPC and quest givers. The Kickstarter campaign, set to run until October 31, 2025, is looking for CA$1,150 (c. US$800) in funding. Those who pledge at least CA$15 (c. US$11) will receive a digital copy of the game. I think this is the right call.

DQV is by far the best game in the series, but for someone getting into the series in 2025 they're probably better off going with the most contemporary feeling one which is DQXI.

25 years ago, Koudelka released in North America on the PS1.

It's one of the main sources of inspiration for Evil Origin, the game I'm currently developing.

A large sector of people that still buy physical don't like the Game Key Cards.

There's also the reality that games now cost more. So if you're buying a Switch 2 at launch, you're probably not picking up anything else beyond Mario Kart.
