"Uh, don't ya have any soup today?"
"Other side of the menu - under 'Liquids'..."

In the US, at least, some men's clothing ads now use "Tops" and "Bottoms" for shirts and pants. Sounds kinda NSFW 😬

And then there's tendency to call one pair of them a "pant".

Action Alert: Call to Restore Veterans Affairs Workers’ Union Rights | AFL-CIO The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the backbone of support for our nation’s brave heroes, providing essential health care, benefits and services that veterans have earned through their service...

"This week, the Trump administration announced that it is ripping up the union contracts of more than 400,000 VA workersβ€”a brazen act of retaliation against the workers & unions who've been standing up to the administration’s illegal actions in court & in the streets."

The VA Wednesday terminated collective bargaining agreements for most of its employees, including nurses, food service workers, technicians and janitorial staff.

About 80% of VA’s 470,000 employees belong to a union.

Don't thank me for my service and cut my brother and sisters throats.

VA terminates key union contracts | CNN Politics The Department of Veterans Affairs is terminating collective bargaining agreements with several key government unions representing its employees.

BREAKING: The VA just stripped union protections from 400,000+ VA workers. That means nurses, doctors, mental health counselors, housekeepers & food service workers who care for our veterans just lost their right to organize and speak up for patient safety. Unacceptable. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/08/...

And if this is a "dm" - then what is a Chat? I saw an option for a "Chat Request" (but can't find it now... ).

Oh, while I've been on the 'net since the late '90s, I never used Twitter, Facebook or, now, Bluesky for personal/individual conversations.

I know "dm" = Direct Message - but, is that what we're doing now?

At a flea market table, looking through some pinback buttons (found a couple Teamsters). Guy next to me is looking a framed pic of A. Lincoln, pre-whiskers. He says to the dealer:

"You know why Lincoln grew a beard? An 8 year old girl* wrote him a letter and told him to."
(* She was 11 but..).

Yeah, glad to met you. As I mentioned, I'm (chronically? πŸ˜‰) introverted, so it's nice to talk to some folks. Reading (and even avoiding) the News, I think: "I've got to do something..." and then driving home from a demo:
"...I'm not sure that's it. But it is 'something' ..."

I only got about 10 minutes into Thiel's recent interview by NYT's Douthat - clicked off when they started discussing Back to the Future.

"What? That racist film where a white boy 'invents' Chuck Berry's music?"

Bad enough but they totally ignored The !@#$ Jetsons!
(Or maybe they didn't?)

Looking at the code names, it's obvious why the mission failed. They simply didn't have the Moxie to pull it off.
