For a long time the green official policy was against HS2 on the basis of the trees being cut down to build it....

Thankfully this was changed at conference a couple of years although the conservative government did their best to cancel it anyway

Those are both things I'm with you on.
It's why I support @greens4nuclear.bsky.social amongst other things.

One of my historical sticking points was also HS2 which I am strongly in favour of (but want environmental mitigation to be much more than a token)

That is normal for the multi millionaire class.
They can't really be said to be resident in any 1 country...

But they hold assets in multiple countries.

We just need to ensure that regardless of where they live their assets in the UK are taxed accordingly

Having a politician who isn't afraid to give a streight answer to a question is always a breath of fresh air! And like yourself I don't agree 100% with @zackpolanski.bsky.social but I do agree with him over more things than I disagree.
(I'm a Socal Democrat at heart not fully socialist for example)

They should remove the 5p rebate on fuel duty... Maybe not all in 1 hit... But it needs to go

24.11.2025 10:25 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Same.
That and I try to avoid flying short haul whenever there is a viable alternative to begin with

While labour at various points in their history have occupied the centre left it's hardly the case at the moment.
The current goverment seem to have exactly the same thought processes (or lack thereof) as the previous tory administration

It's Ryanair.
You fly with them because they are cheap. You expect to be treated with contempt that's their entire business model.

Their CEO makes no attempt to hide the fact. (At least he is honest about it)

How do you get the join date labeled?

100%
OCC is just an excuse to try and evangelicalise in communities that would be better off without it!

Also don't forget that charity starts at home. I know some foodbanks have special Christmas campaigns for example

Look how well starting a trade war is working for the soybean states in the US?
Or for Kentukey and Tenasee whiskey?

18.11.2025 13:03 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed.
I voted Labour tactically to keep the tories and reform out....
It's been an absolute disaster of a government.

I can't tell Shabana Mahmood apart politically from Suella braveman or Priti Patel.....
They may as well be the same person

18.11.2025 10:48 β€” πŸ‘ 9    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeh there was also an element of that in my constituency.
But when you compare with some of them it really was a 2 horse race with reform being close seconds in a frightening number of constituencies

18.11.2025 10:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

At the previous election there literally wasn't a credible alternative....
It was a matter of choosing the candidate best placed to beat reform in the constituency.... In mine that was labour... Next time it won't be

β€˜Are they going to eat me alive?’: trail runners become prey in newest form of hunting Nervous reporter is chased across English countryside by baying bloodhounds, in what could soon be only legal way to hunt with dogs

share.google/3JL1CXRpMyiq...

If you are going to hunt with dogs then this is the only ethical way to do it!

The other alternative is trail hunting specifically not using animal scents...
I belive aniseed balls have been used in the past to lay a trail which seems perfectly reasonable to me

15.11.2025 16:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Agreed.
To be fair the Greens are so different in culture in the last few years that things have improved massively....
Even if some of the old guard are hanging on round the edges

14.11.2025 23:50 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It says something that the least bad goverment I have been able to vote for was the coalition which we all know wasn't great for the time, and only got the title of least bad way after the fact!

(yes I did vote πŸ”Ά in that election so I guess I'm partly to blame for the mess there)

14.11.2025 23:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This does have its downsides.
The ability to filabuster motions at conference that the leadership team don't particularly agree with to prevent them being debated or voted on is a case in point although the one thing stopping me voting green has finally been fixed after this happening several times

14.11.2025 23:43 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

To be honest a mix of soc dem and dem soc suits me fine...

I might be slightly on the right edge of the current momentum in the GPEW but again that's no bad place to be we need to move to the left further than any government could do in 1 term anyway. We just may not agree where to stop

14.11.2025 23:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Traditionally the greens have always been somewhere between soc-dem and dem-soc

Which honestly suits me fine on economic matters

But with the rightward shift in the Overton window even traditional socal democratic principles seem radical left!

14.11.2025 23:37 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But the green party membership (not necessarily all their candidates sadly) won't stand for TERFs, racists, antisemites, or other bigots.

YP provides a home for those on the left who want to discriminate in such ways away from the real parties where they could poison the whole barrel

14.11.2025 23:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

A single parent working full time at minimum wage ideally should be able to afford a week with the kids in a static caravan in Cornwall/wales/Scotland/etc once a year too

07.11.2025 12:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It's crazy that a single person working full time at minimum wage is not able to afford the basics of a roof over their head. Sufficient and nutritious food for them and their dependents, to be able to run a basic vehicle and other neccassay utilities.

I have enough Trans, NB and GNC freinds that it matters to me that their rights are maintained

07.11.2025 12:02 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I expect so.
Shutting down the US government was always going to affect the market if it went on long enough

06.11.2025 20:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The irony of #YourParty emailing me to squee about Mamdani's victory as if he's their kind of guy when Mamdani is

1. Outspokenly pro trans people and

2. Muslim,

... while YP seem to think those two things are incompatible (which is a RACIST position, by the way), is pretty disgusting.

06.11.2025 00:20 β€” πŸ‘ 51    πŸ” 7    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Absolutely...
Road charging is inevitable but it needs to happen only after the vast majority of cars have already been decarbonised as far as is possible

06.11.2025 09:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Also the same people who deal with legally changing your name for any other reason for that matter

04.11.2025 15:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That's interesting.
Here (the UK)
It's specifically the goverment department that registers births marriages and deaths that deals with the official side of transition

04.11.2025 15:32 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And the only time you would ever use the recognition certificate is when dealing with organisations that need to update records from your deadname and gender to your new name and gender
Or in cases like this when you need to prove that something issued under your deadname is really you
