I dunno man, I reckon Charles I wouldn't have been too happy with how things turned out under his watch.

Yes, this is the precipice upon which the United States totters. A Rubicon to cross, if you like.

And to think John Howard and Peter Costello sold most of our reserve off for about $300 an ounce.

Yesterday it was cows using tools, today its penguins using satellite imagery.

Cease your jingoistic cries, and appropriation of digger 'history' if you don't know what you're talking about (expand the attached pics):

3) This'll sting a few patriots, but fuck it - the truth is far more important. At the time we were sending off diggers to die and become ANZAC legends, the short-lived date they were actually fighting for was July 30.

2) Until Federation, the 26th was mainly a NSW celebration. Tasmania had 'Regatta Day' in December, SA had 'Promoculation Day' on the 28th of December as well, WA celebrated 'Foundation Day' on the 1st of June. It was not until 1935 that it happened officially on a Federal level.

1). Yep, the 26th is when a bunch of boats found a harbour. However the formal establishment of a colony, and therefore the transfer of all Australian land to King George III did not occur until the 7th of February. So you're celebrating some boats in a harbour, not when a flag was hoisted.

Righto buckle in, rant incoming. Controversial if you're a pedant, not so much if you have the capacity to think outside of the society we're stuck with. It's about 'the date'. So with no further ado, here's my two cents:

British police have killed fewer people in the last 100 years than American police kill in an average month.

Policing in America is an ongoing tragedy.

Whilst not entirely 100% what you're advocating for here, in NSW (Australia) we have industrial manslaughter laws that treat workplace incidents resulting in death due to gross negligence precisely like they would 2nd degree murder.

Oh, the path to success on LinkedIn is simple. First you must suffer a stroke, and then only retain the memory for phrases such as 'growth mindset', 'circling back', 'vibe coding', and 'building a better future by leveraging new pathways'.

You're reading into my intent somewhat recklessly. I was simply adding to the discussion, not casting generalised aspersions on an entire culture group. I assure you, there was no aim to attack you - just to add some information that locals were aware of that you may not have encountered.

Take note, America. It took one day to act to meaningfully address this. We even skipped 'thoughts and prayers'.

The point was understood - as evidenced by the other bystander who rushed one of the offenders after they had been disarmed and proceeded to 'stomp his head' while he was lying on the ground. My point was that even if the will was there for Ahmed, the means were not.

15.12.2025 06:23 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hi, Australian here. My understanding is that Ahmed had never fired a gun before (as would be true of the vast majority of Australians) and likely did not know how to. Familiarity does make such things easier.

To be fair, given that Britain is some 17,000kms from Bondi, they were facing somewhat of an uphill battle to prevent it from happening.

You can disagree and argue as much as you like but the point of evaluating something scientifically is that not every statement should be given equal credence because evidence matters

The vast majority of those convicted at Nuremburg WERE sentenced to hanging (only Goring avoided this by committing suicide) - so, technically, Nuremburg does fit your prescribed justice perfectly well.

But whoo boy are they gonna experience the power of bottom up movements as people coalesce in opposition to fascism. Which is just now beginning to snowball. An avalanche is coming.

The Christo-fascists running America don't understand 'bottom up' cultural dynamics and like anyone who doesn't understand how the world works they subscribe to conspiracy theories which fit their limited worldview.

Good example of how question phrasing influences your outcome. If, say, you replaced the raw numbers of net migrants and permanent intake with their proportion of Australia's total population, which are 1.14% and 0.67%, I promise you the support for reducing migration would not be this high
