Based on Jang Joon-hwan’s 2003 film Save the Green Planet!, Bugonia follows two men who kidnap a CEO they believe is an alien out to destroy Earth. It’s political and unhinged with a hint of anxiety driven chaos, while looking down on society. Oh and what a final sequence!

Nick and David are absolute wet wipes...how the hell do you not clock Alan was a traitor all along and how do you switch on Joe. Nick is an actual dickhead and David just was useless...and Alan with his crocodile tears had then once again 😂 #CelebrityTraitors

On Falling: A slow burn look at loneliness and invisibility within modern warehouse life. A powerful critique of systematised labour and emotional breakdown. Subtle yet devastating, it captues how routine and isolation can quietly crush human spirit. Bleak but important viewing

Kenny Dalglish by Asif Kapadia is majestic storytelling of one of the most talented footballers there's ever been, though more than just a story about a footballer, it's about a humble and honourable man, through triumph and tragedy. A wonderful ode to King Kenny.

Wasteman at LFF was a tense thriller, set around prison life and the dynamics between two inmates, played immensly by David Jonnson and Tom Blythe. It's raw, brutal and unrelenting. Had me sat on the edge of my seat throughout! Superb by director Cal McCau

Rental Family at LFF was a poignant and sweet film looking at loneliness and doing the right thing by those that need empathy. Brendan Fraser is a delight as is Akira Emoto and Mari Yamamoto. Heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable

No Other Choice at LFF was a darkly funny, twisted triumph from Park Chan-wook, exploring South Korea’s ruthless job market through one man’s desperate fight to rebuild his life. With stunning visuals and sharp storytelling, it's a mesmerising story of capitalism and self worth

A Useful Ghost at LFF was a surreal, biting satire where a man’s dead wife returns as a vacuum cleaner, and that’s just the start. Blending absurd comedy with sharp commentary on workers’ rights and forgotten history, it builds to a bold, stunningly emotional crescendo!

Loved Blue Heron. A family migrates from Hungary to Canada, struggling with their son’s erratic behavior. Told through the daughter’s eyes, it’s a story of family conflict, helplessness and lost childhood. Devastatingly affecting and evocative, gave strong Aftersun vibes #LFF

Is Thing On? is an intimate, funny, and poignant take on separation. After splitting up, a man turns to stand-up as both partners rediscover themselves. Beautifully written, raw, real, and unexpectedly moving while making you laugh. Loosely based on John Bishop’s life #LFF

Two very different films today in what they say but both soaked in art, colour, hedonism and throwback to film making and shooting styles that we don't see as much. Great double bill of films this evening at #LFF

Reflection In A Dead Diamond is a surreal twist on ’70s Euro spy capers, visually hypnotic but don't try to follow the plot! Outrageous gore, and some of the best shots you'll see make it a delirious, hallucinogenic watch, while being trapped in a giallo tinged Bond movie! #LFF

Annapurna Sriram shines as writer, director and lead in the wild and raunchy comedy Fucktoys, set in surreal Trashtown. Bold, original and unapologetic campy B movie/grindhouse vibes, with a sweet love story and sharp take on sex work. Brilliant Q&A and a joy to speak to! #LFF

Saying audiences "don't care" is a such a sick burn on your entire filmography.

So London Film Festival starts for me today (last week was a blur!) kicking off with two this evening, its Fucktoys and Reflection in a Dead Diamond. Hyped for both!

Honey Don't! The neo-noir follow-up to Drive Away Dolls continues the lesbian B-movie trilogy. A PI probes a girl’s murder and a sinister church led by a twisted Reverend. An intriguing watch but the plot is all over the place. Not as great as it could've been, despite some electric performances

Good Boy: A horror film shot from the perspective of a dog who sees his owner haunted by an evil spirit. Both mesmeric and heartbreaking, showcasing the powerless feeling of loss. Despite the lack of scares and generic tale, it's bold and atmospheric. The dog deserves an oscar!

One Battle After Another: A gripping tale of a father searching for his missing daughter evolves into something far deeper. With ‘70s flair, sharp humour, and bold themes of resistance. It’s original, stylish, and brilliantly acted, while politically scathing. Cinema at its most electric, superb!

The Smashing Machine lets Dwayne Johnson flex his dramatic acting and he shines, but the film itself falls flat. A biopic about ambition, addiction, and obsession, largely built around marital drama. Strong performances, weak impact, stylish at times with brutal fight sequences

For a debut there will be very few that are as assured

Something terrible happened to Agnes, but life moves on for those around her. Eva Victor’s stunning debut blends humour and heartbreak with remarkable control of tone where one minute it's funny and another, it's tragic. Ordinary yet profound, it’s a moving film that will stick with you for a while

Some thoughts....

Dead Talents Society: Ghosts compete to haunt, but one needs help to shine. A bloody, heartfelt peak into the chaotic life of a dead spirit, mixing scares with an empathetic story of being seen as who we are. A fun, Taiwanese horror comedy that reminded me of Monsters Inc!

Together was a wild ride, and I really liked the body horror elements, and the intensity it promised. Sadly for me the script was weak, context for much was missing, the film dragged at times and the execution suffered. This had potential to go places, but I felt I needed more ✌🏾
