So cool to see these Ashtrey Alley signs finally up! The city did a fantastic job. Can’t believe this motion was less than a year ago!
We're so tired of posting these screenshots...
But this was today's vote against the Right to Food motion from @seanorr.bsky.social which merely proposed to study the feasibility of using City-owned land for a community grocery store.
Election Day is October 17th.

In case you missed yesterday's big local news story: Vancouver Coun. Sean Orr Sues Mayor Ken Sim via me & @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/03...
We NEED free, accessible, public events and Car Free Days connect many neighbourhoods, community groups, charities, artists, makers, vendors. This would have been such a loss:
Thanks to @lucymaloney.bsky.social & @seanorr.bsky.social for this motion.
Huge thanks to @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social who brought a motion to fund Car Free Day and prevent its cancellation! And kudos to all of council for passing this unanimously. We will see you there!

There's a great Motion from @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social coming to Council this Wednesday, March 11th to improve bike share in the region! (full text: council.vancouver.ca/20260311/doc...)
As card-carrying bike share enthusiasts, we are excited. Here's how to support:

Haha ok gotcha
Wow!
This is just plain informative
“I think, moving forward, we need to focus on the key issues facing the city of Vancouver—key issues that Vancouver residents really care about.”
Excellent recap of Ken Sim's news conference in which he unfortunately did NOT resign immediately or take meaningful accountability for defaming @seanorr.bsky.social. Not good enough!
This isn’t just a mistake an apology to @seanorr.bsky.social can fix. This is opens up the city to huge liability.
What other decisions has Ken Sim made that we now need to question the source and reliability of them?
Omg
“COPE warned that Ken Sim’s jacked-up permit fees are going to make community events more expensive - or stop them from happening at all. This is the impact of austerity."
Save Car Free Days!

we need these special days for our city
we need this
hey @seanorr.bsky.social
What a great Coldest Night of the Year! Hundreds showed up for the DTES & raised funds that will make a real impact in people’s lives. Grateful for this community & for those who walked alongside us ♥️ @seanorr.bsky.social @lucymaloney.bsky.social @jennykwan.bsky.social

Narrator: no it does not
This isn't the first time that Ken Sim has been involved in a smear campaign against @seanorr.bsky.social. Sean's interview is worth a listen - for its honesty, grace, and concern for the public who are harmed by Sim's dirty tricks
IMO we need more humanity like Sean's in politics. Solidarity.
Worth noting that on a different website, multiple ABC Vancouver officials follow accounts that post constantly about how Sean Orr is a terrible human being and make all sorts of unproven claims, including one account that creates AI videos of Orr doing all sorts of illegal or evil acts
"This makes Vancouver look bad. This makes us look like a not serious city. It’s embarrassing, I’m embarrassed on his behalf for this." - @seanorr.bsky.social

I didn’t
Building supportive housing for those who would otherwise be homeless is the right moral thing to do. It’s also the right financial thing to do, since it actually saves public money. It’s a no brainer, so don’t let wrong-headed ideology get in the way.
Tell your leaders to build supportive housing.
Unreal
This motion passed. No surprises there, but I tried to delve into the back story behind this training facility. Sources say the mayors chief of staff told them the developer behind the project risks foreclosure if Woodward’s is not tenanted.
I tried to rule it out of order
NEW: "Lies like this are being actively spread by the far-right to create moral panics for their own election campaigns. The job of a Mayor should be to bring people together, not divide people with disinformation and lies."
