Saw a ranking of "best indie animated shows" include Smiling Friends... at this point I'm convinced people see indie animation as more of a vibe than actually meaning independent animation because there's no way a show funded and owned by Warner Bros. is indie.

I grew up with such classics like "LPS 9/11" and "LPS JFK Assassination", which are exactly what you think they are.
Even the Littlest Pet Shop videos that weren't based on real life tragedies often had them using the hair dryer accessories as guns and shooting each other, or other violent acts.

Toy videos made by toy companies as promotional YouTube Kids fluff in general tend to be extremely cringy, overly safe, out of touch fluff, I'm convinced one look at the unhinged videos that actual kids create with toys would make those toy company executives disintegrate into dust.

This is what happens when toy company corpo staffers who probably don't know or care much about The Powerpuff Girls make a toy video about them.

The rabbit hole of bad Powerpuff Girls media, even if we limit ourselves to officially licensed media, goes really deep.

I feel like I've become more of a problem and an annoyance than do anything good. I always try to make something fun and exciting but later on, I'll keep seeing it as an awfully embarrassing cringe fest. I feel like I can't do anything anymore.

That's the thing that baffles me about reboots in general, especially of children's properties. It costs a lot less to keep rereleasing the same shows/movies every few years because there will always be a new audience for them, but execs have it in their heads that reboots are a better method.

Thing is, as a toy fan, the PPG 2016 toys by Spin Master are technically pretty high quality, the materials, paint jobs, and sculpts are all pretty good, but they would have appealed to so many more people if they used the classic designs rather than the reboot designs and characters.
