On a slate-laid-in-sand terrace, I dug out spaces in the 3/4” gaps and planted baby portulaca in them. They loved it so much, they came back 4+ years self seeding.
The terrace with portulaca ‘naturalized’ around the edges and out of gaps was super lovely.
