I just peer reviewed an article and spent too much time verifying that the references exist & were referenced accurately, all while being paranoid that the article was written by an LLM. it's not worth the effort. And then i see this kind of slop getting published and i wonder why i even bother.
Women: perfectly equipped to do multiple jobs efficiently in the legal sector since 1921.
FWIW, here is what I think actually happened: I think Mr. Renfer was routinely drafting documents using AI and then having his paralegal cite-check them. Over time, as their caseload increased and nobody noticed, they got sloppy. They figured as long as the quote was pretty close, it was good enough
Judge: why are you using AI to do run of the mill issue spotting which is a basic part of your job?
(I am also interested in this question)
So first of all, the DOJ's standards are....extremely fallen, I cannot imagine this happening much earlier in time.
Second, the word "intentionally" has very specific meaning and this lawyer thirty years into practice knows what it means, and the judge is being very clear about that.
Stop 👏 having 👏 unrealistic 👏 body 👏 standards 👏 for 👏 camels 👏
Yes, hello, is that God? Yeah, hi. I have a complaint. You gave me this brain that’s designed for finding berries and avoiding lions and now people are ‘just circling back’ to see if we can ‘move the needle’ on ‘key initiatives’? NONE of those things are berries.
105 years ago today the first women took their places on the Scottish jury bench. I've shared here the research I did on this less-reported event in Scots law. www.linkedin.com/pulse/female...
The British Library is seeking an exceptional individual to become the next Chief Executive. This is a rare opportunity to lead a national institution of global significance and shape its future #Libraries #LISjobs https://ow.ly/Htex50YrIL8
I do wonder what in the hell the free and single bikini bots think they're going to achieve by signing up to Bluesky. Nobody came here to meet free and single bikini bots. We came here to talk about interesting books and records and old rotting gates and discuss the downfall of civilisation.
This International Women's Day, please remember that trans women are women. Full stop. No qualifiers.
📢 And as a reminder, tomorrow is the closing date for our joint 'Writer in Residence' vacancy with the University of St. Andrews. Come use our archives! Link here (and a picture of our reading room to tempt you) www.vacancies.st-andrews.ac.uk/Vacancies/W/...
While my previous work showed that people are more likely to assume an AI voice is human when it speaks in a familiar local dialect, my new paper shows that simply telling people that AI can authentically use regional accents and dialects is enough to increase their vigilance.
And GOD FORBID you don't approve a holiday within 24 hours (cos everyone works at all times and is always online to do approvals)
I think our lot turned that option off because it was just pissing off everyone
Thank you - it's been a lot of work (and fun) digging out resources and visiting random places with old bits of stone salvaged from the building...
A popular beat combo that's got the kids grooving
We've taken to keeping running notes and an overview of our objectives in a Word document cos the system is so bad.
Back to tomfoollery and nonsense, post haste!
Highly unusual for me! 😂
Want to put in an objective? You have to write it in that area, but not until you've used a dropdown that autofills that area which will then let you access a back end option that lets you type in that area and overwrite the autofill text that there is no other way to edit.
"Log a one to one...put notes in it. BTW this is not linked to Outlook in any way, so now do the same thing again for your own calendar. Also, create and maintain a separate document for the notes." Absolute waste of time for everyone.
You have my deepest sympathies. It's also what we use now and while it's mostly ok for clockings/booking leave, the performance management element of it is a steaming pile of shit.
Is it....iTrent?
It is! Our Comms team are fabulous!

Every now and again I remember that there's a bottle of vodka in one of the card file drawers at work.
I'm now recruiting for a crucial post in my team - Curator: Parliamentary Art Collection. A rare chance to work with a wonderful collection in a unique setting.
Please do share, and feel free to get in touch with any questions
The unhelpful American bias of AI, that thinks senators can only exist in the USA.
Me: I'll try and use Google Lens to identify this photo of an unknown Senator of the College of Justice
GL: it's an old white guy in a robe
Me: I'll narrow it down by adding "Senator" and "Scotland"
GL: there are no senators in Scotland
Me: I can assure you there are, they've existed since 1532!!!
