We just published a new report! 📈
Read more about the trends in oil and gas demand and their implications for exporting countries in the new publication by Greg Muttitt - climatestrategies.org/publication/...
Mark Carney said “decarbonised Canadian oil and gas” must get to global markets, including Asia and Europe, after the emissions associated with its extraction were captured in Alberta."
Could we also have 'dry water', please? And some 'cool heat'?

In case anyone is wondering, “decarbonized oil and gas” does not exist, is a complete contradiction in terms, and a dangerous lie that Canadian government after Canadian government has tried to spin under the spell of industry lobbying. How disappointing.

What is the #JustTransition Work Programme—why does it matter? 👉
💚 Enshrine aim to align climate action with equity in global frameworks
💚 Be a global platform to design fair pathways
💚 Reflect priorities of vulnerable countries
💚 Emphasize cross-sectoral, inclusive, locally grounded approaches

By exploring incentive-compatible scenarios and fostering cooperation between fossil fuel producers and consumers, we aim to unlock pragmatic transition pathways that align national self-interest with global climate goals.
As the world nears peak fossil fuel demand, exporters and importers face radically different incentives—and risks—on the path to #netzero. We aim to bridges this divide with an inclusive international policy dialogue to identify win-wins for climate action, energy security, and economic prosperity
Climate Strategies is gearing up for the 2nd edition of The Policy Dialogue for Just Energy Transitions in #Salzberg later this summer.
This year, policymakers will explore how modelling can inform transition planning in fossil fuel producer and consumer countries
➡️https://shorturl.at/Es7qn"
Presentations will cover:
💠SRM science, its risks, and potential contributions to climate stabilization
💠Current state of SRM research, including hypothetical case studies of field tests and related activities
💠The legal and governance landscape that may apply to SRM research
Some argue against Solar Radiation Modification #SRM☀️ in any scenario, while others are already pursuing field experiments. The Co-CREATE project calls for balance & consideration of risks & opportunities.

Code Yellow alert | Widespread MODERATE ozone 4-5/10 #AirPollution episode underway across much of the UK. Expected to come and go for five days or longer. Ozone is the most-irritant gas for humans. Episode is caused by long days of sunshine on still, easterly air uk-air.defra.gov.uk
“The number of countries that explicitly include just transition concepts in their climate plans (known as "Nationally Determined Contributions," or "NDCs") has increased from just one (South Africa) in 2015 to 66 (as of April 2025).

I can't tell if you are being ironic... It is annoying, was horrible walking the baby along the river in winter. But I wouldn't want to end boaters way of life. What's the solution?

Reposting my recent commentary on COP reform. Key points:
🌎 Organisational tweaks not enough
🌏 Smart voting rules would enable stronger decisions
🌍 Amending UNFCCC to do this not impossible

Thanks Simon. Do you think the cleaner air in South East London is genuine (looked like it might have been due to wind direction) or could it be because the sensor network is more sparse in that area?
Looks like an inversion, where cold, still and (in this case) dirty air gets stuck at the bottom of the atmosphere.
I took this the other day from the top of Gipsy Hill, phone camera didn't quite capture the colours right, it was like the sheen of spilled diesel oil on the surface of a puddle.
Still cold air. #WoodBurning, traffic and other emissions hanging around for days. We’re stewing in our own juice
