The University of Notre Dame requires that all events or lectures related to Israel/Palestine have ND Police security and planning. We were unaware of your planned lecture, and since this conference overlaps with two other annual events on campus, we cannot provide security at short notice. The mother of Egyptian activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, Dr. Laila Soueif, has been on hunger strike since September 30 when authorities failed to release Alaa despite the completion of his prison term.

Folks in DC will join her in solidarity by selecting a 24-hr period between December 2 and 7.
