Ban private equity from buying homes. Easy.
Since Trump’s inauguration, more than 2.7 million credit reporting complaints submitted to the CFPB have gone without relief, leaving some people at risk of being denied loans, housing or employment and subject to higher rates from insurers and lenders.

The lawsuit argues that SAVE is still valid since there is a final rule for it on the books, there is no court order preventing borrowers from receiving benefits from SAVE and the GOP's sweeping domestic policy law doesn’t sunset the plan until 2028.
Four borrowers — some of whom are Debt Collective members — are suing the Trump administration and alleging that the Department’s refusal to implement the rule violates federal administrative law by denying them the relief they are entitled by regulation and statute.
New: Lawsuit filed today seeks to order the Trump Department of Education to immediately implement the SAVE affordable student debt plan, allow borrowers to rejoin SAVE and halt collection for those eligible for relief.
Debt cancellation is happening for those at the top.
Cash is being doled out to those at the top.
It's those of us at the bottom that are being made worse off.
These people don't oppose debt cancellation in theory — they just oppose it for you and your family.
Trump failed to distribute payments from 23 settlements against companies—including repeat offenders—that cost households up to $225 million.
The CFPB also gutted its Consumer Complaint Program, which likely cost $40 million in direct consumer relief.
The Trump admin permanently dismissed at least 22 enforcement actions to redress more than $3.5 billion of potential restitution that would have gone directly into Americans’ bank accounts.
On the flip side, there is an actual government agency that *saves* households money. It's called the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
But Trump/Republicans rescinded CFPB rules/guidance that could have saved Americans $15b in overdraft + credit card late fees alone.
To put this in context, Biden’s pardons eliminated roughly $680,000 in financial penalties (fines, restitution, and forfeitures) owed to victims/government.
In contrast, Trump’s second-term pardons have cancelled criminal debts of more than $1.5 billion.
Republican TN House Speaker Glen Casada defrauded state government with a fake-payee kickback scheme.
Virginia sheriff Scott Jenkins handed out badges to untrained businessmen in exchange for $75,000 in bribes.
Trump pardoned them and canceled the debts they owe the government.
Republican Nevada legislator Michele Fiore embezzled $70,000 out of a police memorial fund for personal expenses like plastic surgery and her daughter's wedding.
After being convicted on 6 counts of wire fraud, Trump pardoned her.
Trump’s own US attorney announced Joseph Schwartz’s 3yr sentence for $38M in medicaid/tax fraud.
7 months later, Trump pardoned him.
Schwartz paid a lobbyist $100,000+ to help secure a pardon from Trump and walked free with his debts owed to the federal government cancelled.
Trump *is* doing debt cancellation.
It's just not your student or medical debts.
In his second term alone, Trump has already canceled $1.5 billion of criminal debt — payments fraudsters owe the federal government and victims.
They don't mind debt cancellation—for themselves.
A weaker-than-expected report for February showed a decline of 92,000 jobs, and a rise in the unemployment rate to 4.4 percent.
We need a federal jobs guarantee.

Trump Admin stopped opposing the lawsuit against Biden Admin's major new income-driven repayment plan, which rendered the lawsuit moot before a settlement could be reached. Oops! Now that plan is the law until further notice.
We're fielding a ton of questions about SAVE.
Join us TONIGHT for a rapid response call.
We will explain this development and discuss next steps for debtors and for the movement to get it all canceled.

The Department of Education paused deeply unpopular forced collections on defaulted debtors earlier this year amid record rates of default on federal student loans. They know we're struggling. So put your money where their mouth is and cancel student debt Trump.
During last week’s State of the Union address, Trump claimed that America is “bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever before” — and yet, the policies he’s championed have led to skyrocketing healthcare premiums and utilities, and corporate price gouging.
Since this agreement was not improved, this moratorium will not go into effect — meaning that Trump still has the legal authority to cancel everyone’s federal student debt.
He should do it immediately.
But we don’t want federal student debt to be affordable — we want it to be canceled. In addition to ending SAVE, the settlement agreement also included a clause mandating a 10-year moratorium on federal student debt cancellation. What does this mean?
If Trump truly cares about affordability for working people, protecting SAVE and crediting borrowers for their payments toward IDR and PSLF is the bare minimum he can do to make student loan repayment more affordable for debtors.
If you'll recall, the SAVE plan significantly lowered monthly payments for millions of federal student debtors and shortened some borrowers’ timeline for cancellation from 20-25 years down to 10.
Last Friday, a federal court declined to approve this settlement agreement — putting SAVE back on the table for student debtors, effective immediately.
In December, Billionaire Education Secretary Linda McMahon struck a backroom deal with Missouri’s right-wing Attorneys General to end the SAVE student loan repayment plan, stripping student debtors of their most affordable repayment option.
New: A federal court declined to approve a settlement between the Dept of Ed and the State of Missouri. This means that the SAVE plan is immediately and fully effective.
We're calling on the DOE to retroactively apply credits to debtors and immediately process cancellation.
Heads up! If you have Parent PLUS loans the GOP is trying to trap you in a higher payments. If you have Parent PLUS loans you should consider consolidating them now to get lower payments & the possibility of cancelation. studentaid.gov/loan-consoli...
