Over the summer, we were able to launch our first immunization campaigns and completed this intensive setup and implementation phase right on schedule by early December. In early 2026, “the big search” for the top clones against our target antigens will begin!

In parallel, a dedicated sample-processing container was installed, allowing us to process blood samples at the end of the immunization phase on site – from PBMC isolation all the way to cDNA synthesis

Last year, my group launched a project funded by the T. von Zastrow Foundation that truly took all of us into new territory: the establishment of our own #Nanobody Discovery Platform. We genuinely started from scratch – including setting up our own alpaca facility with five female alpacas…

Yesterday, our first immunization campaign finished. We started late (and finished at 2:00 am 🤯) but everything went well. Lots of PBMCs and good RNA yield 🥳. Big thx to our campaign front runners Gaby 🦙 and Justy 🦙

Purinergic adipocyte-macrophage crosstalk promotes degeneration of thermogenic brown adipose tissue | EMBO reports imageimageStressed brown adipocytes release extracellular ATP, which acts as a paracrine signal via P2X4 and P2X7 receptors on macrophages, initiating BAT inflammatory remodeling and degeneration. Blocking this purinergic signaling axis prevents ...

Fantastic study by Michelle Jäckstein and Jörg Heeren of #SFB1328. Only the inhibition of both - #P2X7 and #P2X4 - protects from BAT inflammation!!! It was a pleasure to collaborate! Hope this inspires others to check P2X4/P2X7 double inhibition in their models! www.embopress.org/doi/full/10....

If only one device is messed up and pings the wrong PW your ACC is blocked and you have to run to the IT department to unlock it and start over again => the week of horror

Been there…we have the “two weeks of horror” when we have to change or work PW (twice a year). If you do not manage to do it properly on all your devices you are doomed. Strategy: switch off all affected devices (6 in total in my case) and sequentially restart them with the new PW… so I feel you!

Today, we startet our first #nanobody discovery campaign by immunizing two of our alpacas, one by s.c. protein injection and one by gene gun. Crossing our fingers for a good HcAb response 🤞🏻💪🏻
