Kraken Becomes First Crypto Firm to Win Access to Fed’s Core Payments System The decision means the industry is a step closer to becoming integrated into the mainstream financial system.

The @federalreserve.gov just granted a crypto company—Kraken—access to its public payment services for the first time.

More evidence that crypto’s success is not as an *alternative* to the existing financial system but to capture the existing payment infrastructure.

Bettors wagered $54 million on Khamenei’s death. Now they’re not getting paid. Kalshi, a prediction market site, has sparked outrage after freezing $54 million in bets on the death of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, citing a rule against profiting from death.

New: I talked to the traders who bet Khamenei would die.

One, an Israeli ex-pat, would've won $63,000 before Kalshi froze the bet: “I was booking my trip to Courchevel.”

She said that Corey Lewandowski isn't playing a role in DHS contracts.

That's not true.

(N.B. She's testifying today in front of the House. Someone might ask her about this.)

Gulf States in Race Against Time to Repel Iran’s Onslaught There are only so many air-defense interceptors available to knock down an almost limitless number of drones.

A crucial variable in this war is whether these monarchies start running out of interceptors before the Iranian regime runs out of projectiles.
At current burn rates, it could be very soon.

So instead of “regime change,” are we actually merely doing the younger generation of hardliners a favor by clearing out the gerontocrats?

It's very hard for the public to learn who is behind these accounts, but if any prosecutors did want to take up this case, it would likely be trivially easy to subpoena all the evidence they need.

The key to understanding Trump is that he’s the Penny Stock President.

This draft Trump EO on voting is even nuttier than you imagined. Zeroing out all voter rolls and making everyone re-register in person. Mandatory annual online re-registration. Requiring anyone casting an absentee ballot to find a notary. No dropboxes. All post-election disputes federalized. 😟

As Federal Prisons Run Low on Food and Toilet Paper, Corrections Officers Leave in Droves for ICE Many of the problems the agency is facing now are not new, but staff and prisoners fear an exodus of officers could make life behind bars even worse.

Citing my reporting for @propublica.org, 4 House Dems have formally asked the head of the federal prison system to explain how the agency will fix severe staffing shortages affecting safety and operations.

My Trade Secrets today. The Trump tariff refunds saga is blackly comic. About 20% of tariffs levied on Chinese exporters are paid directly by those exporters. So they get a refund windfall, having largely passed the tariff costs on to US co.s & consumers. I know, right?

Today’s order didn’t go far enough.

Judge Porter should have required all of Natanson’s materials seized pursuant to the deceptive warrant application to be returned to her.

And he shouldn't have credited the admin’s claims that any of seized materials posed a natsec threat.
