The authors investigate Sweden’s carbon tax and VAT reform, finding it significantly increased low-carbon patents in the transport sector.

The results indicate that carbon pricing – not general fuel price changes – primarily drives the innovation response.

Gut ausgestaltet können Klimapolitikmaßnahmen im Verkehrsbereich
1) Emissionen reduzieren,
2) lokale Luftverschmutzung verringern und dadurch
3) die physische und psychische Gesundheit der Anwohner*innen verbessern.

Dabei zeigt sich: Nach Einführung der Umweltzonen schafften mehr Grundschulkinder den Sprung aufs Gymnasium. Ebenso nahm das Risiko einer psychischen Erkrankung ab, insbesondere bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen.

Umweltzonen verbessern nicht nur die Luftqualität, sondern wirken sich auch positiv auf die mentale Gesundheit und den Bildungserfolg der Anwohner*innen aus.

In einer neuen Studie untersuchen wir, wie sich die Einführung von Umweltzonen (seit 2008) auf die psychische Gesundheit und Übergangsquote von Grundschulkindern aufs Gymnasium auswirkte.
