Eurgh wet cuffs are icky!
But two holidays sound good…
On annual leave for nearly two weeks now - hurrah!
A travel adventure next week but hopefully some time for reading and relaxing too. Plus a long overdue catch up with a friend.
I really enjoyed putting the out of office on - it feels like ages since I had a block of time off.
Oooo that looks amazing and I want to read more graphic novels too so that’s two goals with one book!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Currently looking for books by North African authors to get a head start on book group.
Any recommendations for Algeria, Libya and Egypt?
I think I’ve got Morocco and Tunisia covered.
Also are Western Sahara and Sudan part of North Africa?

One perk of working for the library service is free reservations but by the time the books arrive I’ve forgotten why I asked for them!
I’ve found it great for discovering new books, reviews and people to talk books with.
The #BookSky tag works for me and @runalongwomble.bsky.social and @bigbeardybooks.bsky.social threads about what people are currently reading have grown my tbr beyond belief
Waves hi 👋🏻
I’ve found it very friendly and chatty here about all the things I like - much like the other place was years ago!
Completely agree about the neat ending, but at least this way any cinematic version will follow the author’s ideas rather than being full on ‘Hollywood’
I got to research for the season set in Devon and broadcast in 2018.
The air raid on the shops in Folkestone featured the family who later on looked after my paternal grandfather.
I loved the whole 4 years of storylines
I was lucky enough to get a short intern role with the BBC working on historical research for storylines on this programme and so I really recommend it too.
Not only that one of the dramatic events that took place in Folkestone did actually impact/involve some of my family.
From a single reserve at Cley Marshes in 1926 to more than 60 sites today.
Skylarks, wildflower meadows and restored wetlands are all part of the vision for Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s latest reserve as it marks one century of conservation.
I'm so happy that people have taken to the idea of the #ReadTheWorld book group.
Two new members today and great discussions about Japanese books from all genres and eras. So many new books and thoughts to process.
Next month we're dipping into North African literature.

Morning all!
Still in a bit of a reading slump but Love is A Toad by Lucy Lapwing is proving nice and episodic so ideal for dipping into.
Venice Requiem by Khalid Liamlahy (tr. Rod Schwartz) is also compelling & a companion to last year's Small Boat but not cheerful.
Happy reading

Slightly warmer here today than the last couple of days but the light was so flat and the mist so low that it felt a fully monochrome day.
Lots of birds around and their song was cheerful but that’s the best that could be said!
It’s so monochrome here in Norfolk too.
We did walk this morning but rewarded ourselves with a small roast lunch in a pub.
I might just try that one, I usually pick a Little Princess by her for a reread but The Secret Garden was also a favourite.
Morning all!
After a run of excellent reads I'm finding myself with a bit of a book hangover and can't settle to anything.
I'm a few chapters in to several things but not sure if any will stick. Perhaps time to reread a favourite from childhood as a reset?
Hope everyone else has a good book day!
Very excited to see a book translated by @racheltranslates.bsky.social reviewed in the Times today. I love seeing books by people I know reviewed!
Happy 100th Birthday Norfolk @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social
Chilly today but a lovely walk at Cley - wigeon, lapwings, barnacle, Brent, & greylag geese, a spoonbill, and waders galore plus a few raptors unsettling them.
Even managed to get a signed copy of @themarshtit.bsky.social new book!

I’m not doing too well at actually reviewing books at the moment but I am reading lots!
My February round up is here norfolkbookworm.blogspot.com/2026/03/febr...

Shock of the Light made it to one of my top reads in February too, and I quite enjoyed A Private Man too!
Grey and chilly weather back today and a real effort to push myself out for a walk.
Glad I did as the tiny pond in the park was full of frogs which definitely made me smile.

This sign, also seen on our walk today, seems peak Norfolk in oh so many ways...

The butterflies wouldn't stay still long enough for camera phone photos today but it was a 3 species walk around the marsh this afternoon - peacocks, brimstones & our first comma of the year.
The forecast doesn't have the sunshine sticking around for the weekend so best to enjoy it today 🦋📷
