Any time anyone starts talking about taking us out of the ECHR, ask them two questions:

1. Which of these rights don't you believe in?

2. What exactly would you replace it with. And don't take any vague promises like Brexit benefits.

This is a hugely important editorial that sets out how UK Government proposals to reform alcohol licensing will undermine the entire purpose of the licensing system. It will explicitly move the focus from protecting public health and social order to promoting economic goals and business priorities.

Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.
