I like to think of it as "female" being fe (iron) male, meaning women are ironmen.

Obviously I know this isn't the true origin of the word but it should be because it brings me joy :)

I loved it too. But I'm wondering why it was moved to Bromley/ Sydenham? What was that Decision about?

Ancestral remains return to Country after a century in a British museum After almost 130 years, the remains of an Aboriginal man have made the long journey home from Oxford University to be reburied on the Country from where he was taken at Berowra Creek in Sydney.

"That's the greatest feeling of all, is to know he's home. He hears the sounds of his mob, of his environment and they met him, and they're still with him now. It's now good to walk away knowing he's back where he belongs." - Nathan Moran, the CEO of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council.

Two super cool older guys holding a copy of Tales of the Suburbs The same two super cool guys photographed 41 years ago, the photo featured on the cover of Tales of the Suburbs

MEET THE COVER STARS! In a week of crazy things around Tales of the Suburbs it was a joy to meet Chuck and Dave, who were photographed in 1985 by Sunil Gupta and are still going strong!

I first came across this poem when I was a teenager and I thought it was cute. Now I'm middle aged and in love it makes me cry at the depth of its beauty. I think that's evidence that I'm middle aged and in love tbf

Over a certain age a neck garment makes all the difference. I've just spent an inordinate no. of minutes in front of a mirror testing this #TheArchers

So that’s that, right? We don’t have to put up with endless drivel about how expensive it is to save the planet abd ourselves ever again? Cool.

Fascinating essay. My absolute favourite feminist adaptation / interpretation, which powerfully explores the contemporary science and ethics is this www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/serie... #MaryShelley #Frankenstein

A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says “they’re having problems with their economy again.”

This is from 1975.

Remember guys, you can’t afford a gas rig, or a coal mine, or a nuclear power station, but you can afford to put some cheap solar panels on your roof.

That’s why the fossil fuel industry has spent billions trying to kill renewable energy.

The dealer needs to keep you addicted.

I don't know where this narrative of "permanent" refugee status came from (right wing press), but it is wrong. The change is from a single grant of five years' leave followed by the ability to apply for settlement

That's where I learned to ska dance, aged 15, courtesy of the Horns of Jericho. and how to spot members of the SA secret police (tbh they didn't make it difficult). But my mum never let me stay on the picket overnight
