Colorblind Ideology Is a Form of Racism The need for colorblindness implies there is something shameful about people of color that we shouldn’t see or talk about.

RFK Jr. says we should be a β€œcolorblind” country.
That’s not a thing.

Health disparities by race are REAL: cancer, maternal mortality, COVID hospitalizations… Black, Hispanic, Native communities bear the brunt.

β€œColorblindness” is lazy and dangerous racism.

Husband first, he’s the best to bounce ideas off of, though I usually dislike most of his suggestions. I’m part of Cincinnati Fiction Writers, and we do critiques every other week. I’m up for the first chapter of my YA fantasy horror in June!

Here are my cats, Peanut 🐈 and Dora πŸˆβ€β¬›. They love to sit on my lap (and frequently my keyboard) while I try to write, work, knit, and play video games.

Hi #momswritersclub! πŸ‘‹

I’m Erica, scientist by day, writer by evening…sometimes. Life has been busy and I have more book ideas than moments where I feel like I can write. I previously wrote a MG fantasy novel that needs an overhaul. I’m now working on a YA fantasy horror and an Adult drama.

It's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ www.fda.gov/animal-veter...

Oh dear, it’s happening again! I’ve stumbled upon what I believe (in this endorphin rush that is a new idea) is possibly the catchiest hook for a book possible. Super relevant, super marketable, and super…not the book I’m supposed to be working on 😐. It is very new and shiny, though… #amwriting

Same, I keep getting excited by a new idea and jumping to that instead. But I think I’m just finding a productive way to push through hard parts and edit books already in progress.

My 36th birthday is tomorrow πŸŽ‚and I want to spend the day donating to causes that I support, with a focus on people and organizations at odds with current governmental priorities. I have my own list of places I regularly donate, but if you can, please share others that matter to you! #altgov #lgbtq

The great thing about fighting back against this stuff is that if you end up losing anyway you get the same outcome you’d have gotten from complying but you don’t have to fucking hate yourself too.

These are training grants. 🚨

The Trump administration has launched a war on students and young people studying science.

It’s a common thread. Trump is killing student fellowship grants at NIH and NSF, and is killing the NIH and CDC in-house fellows programs.

@altnih4science.bsky.social, how are we amplifying voices of those scientists suffering because of DOGE, especially on platforms that aren’t as left-leaning as Bluesky?

This is what happens when funding systems are gutted in the name of efficiency. I’m sure research with the goal of saving kids from dying from organ failure wasn’t MEANT to be on the chopping block, but by ruining our tried and true (and very rigorous!) systems for scientific funding, all suffer.

Looks like an internal RFA at my institution that I’ve been working tirelessly on is being canceled 4 days before the due date. This would have been my first grant application as an Assistant Professor. I’m crushed. I guess work on pediatric kidney and liver transplant rejection will have to wait.

Happy BLACK History Month. I read Black books every month but I got two stacks for y'all.

First stack is books by Black authors I loved and the second are the ones I’m getting to.
