$5/month is only about 16¢ per day and it can make a massive difference in the lives of these beautiful rescue animals. Please consider becoming a monthly donor!
Sadly cat breeders are working hard to catch up to the horrors of the dog breeding world. 💔
Quality time with the baby. Photo from my collection, 1960.
Female lambs are kept for wool (and sometimes milk) and to produce more lambs but are generally sold for mutton around age 6 when their fertility/wool production declines. There are some small farms where females get nice retirements after a lifetime of profitable service but that is sadly rare.
At most farms the male baby goats, lambs, and calves are killed because they can't be milked. They might keep 1-2 on site for breeding. Females are kept to be impregnated over and over and over so they will produce milk and more babies. When they age out of pregnancies they are also killed.
Goats are AWESOME!
If you want an ethical way to experience how cool and awesome and smart and beautiful farm animals are, visit a sanctuary like @woodstocksanctuary.bsky.social or @merrymacsanctuary.bsky.social!
(That is a rhetorical question. I work in farm animal rescue so sadly I know exactly what happens to most of them.)
I hate all the "cute" local news stories this time of year about "snuggle a baby goat" type events at local farms. What happens to those babies after you go home with your photos and nice memories? 💔
YES.

😆
I don't post photos where cats are forced into costumes. Those are from the Library of Congress and have been posted by countless others, though.
