haha, we are equally obsessed with sounds of the underwater world! We use a Spotter Sound buoy from Sofar Ocean Technologies which contains an advanced hydrophone, water sensor and satellite links to a remote dashboard. The blue sensor tests for salinity and dissolved oxygen.

Celebrating a successful mission to the fabled Farallon Islands to collect acoustic data, deliver vital gear and rotate science teams.

A renowned hotspot for wildlife, the islands are home to over 300,000 nesting seabirds, five species of pinnipeds, whales and great white sharks.

Yes! We promptly reported its position and condition and the poor whale was rescued and freed within 24 hours by trained response teams from The Marine Mammal Center, Cascadia Research and California Academy of Sciences.

So many go unreported, we were lucky to be in the field that day!

If you listen closely, you'll hear the faint cries of an entangled humpback whale our SeaSounds team encountered on a recent mission.

We can do better to protect these magnificent creatures and help create a safe co-existence where people and wildlife can thrive for generations.
