I'm in El Salvador this week doing an MTSS and Inclusion audit. A highlight was reconnecting with Rebecca, my student from almost 15 years ago. She was in the very first cohort of the Inclusive Leadership Program. It's so wonderful to connect back to those who were there when it all began. 🥰
What a phenomenal week it's been at Seoul Foreign School! We've worked hard on the logistics of #MTSS and interdisciplinary #UDL, and protocols for intervention plans. What stands out to me most is the warmth and kindness I feel from the faculty here. It's always a joy to be in this space. #EduSky
Hi, Laura. It hasn't been published, yet. Once it's been out for about six weeks, I'll publish it on leadinclusion.org
In the upcoming issue of Educational Leadership Magazine, I wrote an article on paraprofessionals/shadow teachers/1-1 assistants. It's time to rip off the Velcro! #LeadInclusion #EdChat #Teaching #SpecialEducation #GlobalEducation #SEN @ELmagazine @ASCD
Privileged to be at The KAUST School near Jeddah this week as we deepen UDL and MTSS understanding and consider the implications for systems and structures.
What a fantastic first day of the NESA Educators Training Institute in Riyadh connecting with friends old and new. Brilliant delegates engaging in UDL, MTSS, Equity, Instructional Coherence, and so much more. Grateful for the chance to lead with these and other phenomenal presenters. 🙏
Delighted to be at AISJ this week as we reimagine the future of student support, MTSS, and UDL. Exciting inclusive milestones are ahead for this school. ⭐️ #LeadInclusion
The Thacher School spent their first day back from break deepening their #UDL practice. What an incredible setting in Ojai, California. #LeadInclusion
#MTSS isn’t only about intervention. It’s first and foremost a schoolwide system for PREVENTION. This requires UDL, core review teams, screeners three times a year, and differentiated support in every classroom. #LeadInclusion #UDL #EduSky #TeacherTwitter #EdChat
Most rubrics require a ‘renovation’ that shifts them away from a focus on what's wrong to a growth-oriented conversation about what’s next. @leeannjung.bsky.social growbeyondgrades.org/blog/rubric-redesign
When the way we assess gets in the way of our being able to measure what we want to assess, the way we assessed can be said to be a ‘confounding variable.’ @leeannjung.bsky.social growbeyondgrades.org/blog/univers...
Grading ≠ assessment. The best teaching is built on feedback, not points. #LeadInclusion #Assessment #Grading #EduSky #UDL #TeacherTwitter
A reshare from Sabrina Guerra (Neuroclastic 2022)
When the rights of abled people take precedence over those of disabled people, our great shame is evident, and we must not consider ourselves a modern, progressive society.

Traditional grading closes doors before students even get to walk through them. #LeadInclusion #Grading #UDL #EduSky #EdChat #TeacherTwitter
How students *show* learning isn’t the same as *what* they learned. UDL removes the barriers to showing their learning. #LeadInclusion #Assessment #UDL #EduSky #EdChat

A formal test or paper doesn’t mean a more valid assessment. It's often the opposite! We need to give students options to show what they know in authentic and informal ways if we want valid assessment of learning. #LeadInclusion #Assessment #EduSky #UDL #EdChat
But of course. Perhaps we can grow an empathetic generation that will fight for these. Empathy is the root of that fight.
Feedback drives learning. Grades are just data reduced to symbols. And those symbols can disengage, disempower, and discourage learning. We need to be grading less--a whole lot less. #LeadInclusion #FeedbackFirst #Assessment #EduSky #UDL #TeacherTwitter
Let's make IEP meetings authentically student-focused! 🚀 What are the student's dreams and how can we support them in reaching their goals? #LeadInclusion #IEPs #SpecialEd #EdChat #UDL
Grading less isn’t the radical unknown. Montessori educators (at all levels--not only preschool) have shown us the way for years. #LeadInclusion #Grading #UDL #EduSky #TeacherTwitter #EdChat
Paraprofessionals are such an important resource. How do we honor their value and support them? They need and deserve professional development, too. #LeadInclusion #EdChat #UDL #EduSky #TeacherTwitter
Mastery isn’t one leap—it’s a staircase. Explicit instruction means bringing students through the stages of mastery on foundational skills: Acquisition → Fluency → Maintenance → Transfer. #LeadInclusion #UDL #MTSS #EduSky #EdChat
Belonging is the foundation for learning, joy in learning, and joy in being human. Inclusive educators build it on purpose. #LeadInclusion #UDL #EduSky #TeacherTwitter #EdChat
Let's talk about the power of kindness, empathy, and dignity. It's the job of every teacher to model, teach, talk about, and develop them in their students. #LeadInclusion #TeacherTwitter #EduSky #UDL #EdChat
Students with IEPs are not "special education students." They are simply students, period. Every student in the building is a general education student and valuable member of the community. #LeadInclusion and #EduSky. #UDL #EdChat #TeacherTwitter
Disengagement is evidence of a story to be heard or a barrier to be removed. The UDL guidelines include actionable strategies to engage every learner. #LeadInclusion #EduSky #UDL #TeacherTwitter #EdChat
