As someone who didn't have "a way in" for the longest time, this is my philosophy.
Just saw someone legit using the phrase "curating attendees." 😬 "Pass my kink test or you can't come." That's community I guess.
I'm just so tired of people being like "we need to gatekeep kink" right after a super inclusive event and meanwhile they're also going to like Dore and shit. I know this is massively out of character for me, but I'm legitimately upset at the discourse. Do better.
It was small, but it felt like family. If you want smaller events where you can actually meet people, fucking support them. Don't go to the Biggest Event just because it's big. Are they giving back or making space for community building? If so, great! But vote with your presence.
Also, I'm feeling salty so you're gonna get some Bucko Hot Takes. Support events that are actually doing good work and not ones that are just big. This goes for kink and non-kink. So many local queer nerds neglected our queer convention here in Atlanta and it closed down last year.
