why tf can "reddit" show me a notification on my android phone to that invites me to a "messenger" channel. that's also based on subreddits that i've visited before.

having two options that almost do the same thing is often a symptom of your system collapsing into itself to just a blob of if statements.

when you have to tweak things randomly as the developer to achieve a desired effect.. then you've just created your own black box that will haunt future you.

and as a secondary goal, for your own sanity, it should be testable. have basic cases that you would know how it responds.

adding a deterministic seed always helps, especially when you want to add some known randomness.

each knob should have an obvious effect.

I designed and seen a lot of player cpu / enemy ai / systems before and one thing that you really need to be careful of is reaching the critical mass of settings or knobs that you have on it.

its primary goal should be to deliver an experience to the human player. good enough to fool, not perfect.
