By her own words the rate has risen 5% in 15 years. Not exactly representative of some profound cultural shift.

She very clumsily tries to dismiss any material factors for delays to marriage and family formation towards the beginning of the article.
This is supposedly the intellectual giant of the right doing the most transparent "look over there at the culture" stuff to distract you from your lack of a home

The entire article is Steen making up a person who supposedly hates marriage and has convinced everyone else to hate it too. Never met such a person but I haven't visited the inside of Steen's head

One would assume they're looking at Bourse in Brussels - and if they're not then they should be.

Without knowing the full facts that went to mitigation, one pleaded guilty and one refused to accept even the verdict of the jury.

Maybe an argument that this shouldn't matter, but then you get into a situation where nobody ever pleads guilty (like for murder).

Totally normal news articles rightly critical of the genocide are often full of comments from Ivory Coast flag emoji freaks agreeing but in a way that makes you go "oh no, not like that".

Same with this suprise that "institutions" are capitulating. Seems some people really bought the idea that these were somehow sacrosanct, despite all history showing otherwise.

Shouldn't be surprising I guess given many of them admired those hiding behind institutions as an excuse not to act.

This is 4chan becoming mainstream. /b/ was simultaneously full of pornography and outright hatred of women focused on them as "stupid" and "dishonest".
It's a key to radicalising young men - Al-Qaeda understood it as well as 4chan. Isolate them from love and it's easier to fill them full of hate.

100%
In addition we tell students that developing these skills in university will result in a wage premium. It's no surprise with that framing that they see a tool they can use (and figure they will use in work) that can do the job, so they figure out how to use it.

Workers in this case who ply their talents at building tools to kill and surveil other workers in a company founded for and explicit about that purpose.

The fields overseers were "workers" too, I suppose.

Palantir was founded to assist the surveillance state and the war machine. Its earliest and largest contracts were with, and still are with, US intelligence and defence departments. Side gigs don't change that no more than for the likes of Raytheon.
Mad that the SocDems would let such a man run.

That's true for any assessment that's not an invigilated exam.

That said, teaching students that they can use ChatGPT as a source is madness. That's not even what the tool is for.

I expect you'll find the trafficking element is less putting people in the back of a truck and more in the line of fraudulent paperwork for certain professionals, just given the person's non-politics work.

Spare a prayer tonight for the put upon lawyers of the Spanish prosecutors office. The real victims in all this. Having to learn about transfer patterns in Dublin central on a no doubt otherwise pleasent Spanish weekend.

SF, SD, LAB coalition with C&S with Fianna Fรกil is the best outcome for the left. Requires SD and Lab to rule out supporting FF/FG and have the sense to realise that the steeper path is the better one in the longer term.

Have to think some of that is a "Taoiseach" effect. Lots of people will vote for someone they don't like because "oh it's good to have a Taoiseach from the town" but then transfer to their actual preferred candidate.

Get Lenihan on more panels; he can't help but say the quiet part out loud.

He thinks Sinn Fรฉin loses votes by tagging affordable housing at โ‚ฌ330k because people don't actually want cheap homes. FF/FG won't give it to them.

Their job is to promise while winking at landowners. #ge24

Assumption from Lenihan on RTร‰ suggesting that being in Government naturally loses you votes is very telling.

Assumes that you can only ever do stuff that pisses people off. Those with a positive view of what government can accomplish wouldn't have such an outlook.

It's absolutely what I see as a best case scenario, not a most likely one.

However if FF can't negotiate outside the duopoly they have a longer term problem. A party irrevocably tied to the hip of a party is no party at all. Would the proud Fianna Fรกil "movement" stand for that?

29.11.2024 22:48 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Other factor is that FF at large, less so Martin, do not want to coalesce with Fine Gael. They want a separate life. If FF can only ever support FG and never the other side then their electoral appeal is limited and their negotiating power is lost totally.

29.11.2024 22:45 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Only works if SF biggest parties and SD, Greens, and Lab benefit bigly from geo concentration.

In that scenario FF alternative is coalition with FG (who crave opposition) supported in C&S by ragtag India and right wingers.

Either way is doom. Above is the easier path, you are "the moderator".

Broadleft partners gives MM cover for C&S. Give them a left priority each. Deliver it. Show a real difference in housing. Go back to the county early with the message: "We've shown you what we can do, let us get rid of Fianna Fรกil and deliver."
Deliver the first left wing government. #ge24

If they can manage it:

SF and broad soft left minority government in C&S with FF. Need is for a few small wins and back to the country, SD/LAB/Green in coalition means no outflanking. Isolate FG, create a real division & choice and find cassus belli with FF within 24 months.
