Watched “Just Friends” a Dutch movie with Josha Stradowski and Majd Mardo. Loved it. I don’t know, or care, Josha’s sexuality but he is fantastic as a straight Rand al’Thor in “The Wheel of Time” and lovely as a gay Joris in “Just Friends”.

Been watching a lot of Oklahoma Sooners fall camp content. This guy. Impressive.

One thing I don’t like is how The NY Times mini crossword turns over to the next day’s puzzle way too early. I did my puzzles at 4:10 PM MDT yesterday and it was apparently already today’s mini. I object to this shortening of days. Especially in the Summer.

I was called to be in the juror pool for the Murray Justice Court. I guess anyone in the county is eligible. I’m on call for 6 months. I was a potential juror for federal court a year or two ago but they never needed me so it will be interesting to see if I ever serve.

My aunt’s not in good health and as far as I know doesn’t speak a word of Japanese so I hope Trump keeps her here.

My Mom was 8 at the end of WWII so I don’t know that she remembered much about the war years, but her Dad was career Army and part of the US occupation of Japan and she had lots of stories about living in Japan after the war. Her younger sister was born in Japan so could be deported I guess 😉.

There was a post on Reddit about a 12 year old girl who didn’t know who the Nazis were. I was born < 15 years after the end of WWII so everyone my Dad’s age (b. 1932) and older remembered actually living through the war. (And that’s what we all called it, “the war”). Now it all seems so long ago.

Anyway, this was prompted by reading the BSL article on the Village Inn townhouse project which seems like a great location (south of the SL Clinic). The three new planning commissioners all seem to have great backgrounds for their new assignments.

There is a new member of the SLC PC and I noticed her because she speaks a lot more than most new members. I was thinking to myself she looked trans and then I corrected myself because I was making assumptions based on looks, but I happened upon her website today and, surprise, she is trans.

“Wicked” came on to Amazon and I was excited to see it. I know people who love it and have seen it multiple times. Also I’ve read the book and seen the play. Maybe I’m just not in the right head space. I’ve made it to the song “Popular”. I’m giving it a rest and will try and finish it later.

Watched the second season of “Quarterback” on Netflix. Follows Jared Goff (Lions), Joe Burrow (Bengals), and Kirk Cousins (Falcons) during the 2024 NFL season. Got me excited for college football to start in just over 30 days! 🏈
