Audio Roles, Volumes and Routes What if you want to have your phone’s alarm clock volume different from your music playback volume and have the later go to speakers while alarms should continue to go to the phone’s speaker? While this could be handled manually via per application volume and sink setups, this doesn’t scale well on phones that also have emergency alerts, incoming calls, voice assistants, etc. It also doesn’t specify how to handle simultaneous playback - for instance, if an incoming call rings while music is playing.

With some #wireplumber changes landing we're a big step closer to enabling separate volume controls for things like media, alerts, alarms, etc. in #Phosh. Here's a short overview on the current state: https://phosh.mobi/posts/role-based-routing/

@linmob One could have lots to complain about in that article (wouldn't even know where to start) but I'd rather to see it more of a motivation to make mainline Linux on phones a thing.

@linmob It seems being vague in announcements generates way more clicks and interest than actually announcing something concrete 😃 .

I keep posting these until it gets boring: #Cellbroadcast received yesterday on a #OnePlus6t running #Phosh , #cellbroadcastd and #ModemManager . Just showed up, no fiddling, just using distro packages.

The notification that's being shown when the timer expires, plus the "stop alarm" button.

@devrtz @NGIZero Thanks to the xdg-desktop-portal maintainers our #portal related MR got merged recently too (https://github.com/flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal/pull/1738) so once that made it into a release we can start transitioning to notifications (instead of modal dialogs) for lower priority events.
