And the folks who are actually writing full-time generally only got there after years of day jobs, family support, or both.

The point of sharing this is not to demoralize anyone, but to let emerging writers know they're not failing if they can't make a living off writing alone. Almost no one can.

A sea siren sits above a pile of bones with schools of fish, bones, and a giant angler fish around her.

🌊The Angler's Bride🌊

My heart is a sunken altar. There, I thrive. There, I keep a ledger of bones. The deep remembers what the surface forgets.

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking β€œwow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

a traditional pen and ink drawing of a coyote looking upwards with eyes wide and mouth slightly open. a burst of color in white, yellow, orange, pink, and blue (painted in gouache) imperfectly bisects its head

Hey this is Anther / Oria from twitter! I saw on their IG story yours was actually one of the first sold! I went at 4pm today, it was legit my fave piece and everyone I talked to about it adored it and had been tempted to buy it if it hadn't already been sold!

Black silhouette of a person curled in a foetal position, outlined in shaky red. They are bleeding out period blood in a thick murky swirl of red, dotted with blood clots. Black writing over the blood (text too long for bsky, please check link)

the body horror of endometriosis when you’re not a woman.

Suffering "women's issues" in a healthcare system that silences women.

A Few months ago, when the first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds was released, I decided to start brainstorming a new monster that could fit into the series. It’s designed as a brute wyvern that adapts to its environment by switching between two different stances: normal mode and tunneler's mode.

Harlequin Blue Felimida (Felimida clenchi) - Nudibranch, digitally painted vibrantly Post image

Harlequin Blue Felimida (Felimida clenchi) - Nudibranch

Sea souffle pancake, to me. I wanted to emphasise their pastry-ness by making them toastier

Reference from Ellen Muller (iNaturalist)

8h25m, but part of it was spending 2-3h attempting another 2 nudibranchs and cutting my losses before this

Digital painting of richly highlighted egg on toast with crispy edges and cracked pepper, with a cute outline Digital painting of toast with char marks and a cute outline

Egg on toast

I forgot that the egg would be covering the toast, so I spent a lot of time rendering the char pattern onto the bread, so please appreciate the toast separately as well lol

Chocolate coronet

Following Food illustration tutorial by Leriisa

I'm not used to visible lineart so I made it chunkier like a sticker. Im still trying out styles to see what I vibe with most! This was actually the initial style before I did the one I previously posted which I prefer

Digitally painted croissant with tasty lighting and texturing highlighting the crispiness and softness, outlined with cutesy shapes using its own colors

πŸ₯
Trying out some styles of how to do an outlined painting, and I think I quite like doing this style that I often see from crocheters, it distracts from the painting less and empahsises the silhouette.
Happy with how this croissant turned out, following tut from Leriisa.

Today is my birthday 🎊. All I ask if for folks to share and donate to help me stay housed.

That would be the greatest gift.
