A Great Spotted Woodpecker bursts into flight, wings spread wide in a dazzling display of black-and-white feathers. Its bright red under-tail glows against the dark background, and its talons are curled mid-air, as if gleefully shaking off the working week. With its beak pointed forward and an air of confidence, launching itself straight into the weekend.

January has been five months long, but we've finally reached the finish line...

I'm always encouraging people to photograph black cats against colorful backgrounds but sometimes black backgrounds and low light create cool photos too. Especially if the cat has some white on them. This is Onie in low light (table lamp) looking at a moth on the ceiling.
