@kneppwilding.bsky.social’s two-decade ecological review is invaluable evidence that rewilding works. Once familiar but now scarce birds, butterflies, dragonflies and more have all staged comebacks. For example, results show a 900% increase in breeding birds, with a 500% rise in nightingales.

The good news is that NGOs and the private sector have innovated to improve biodiversity financing tools, but these won’t be effective unless backed by regulations and incentives. National governments must take concrete steps...

We invited name suggestions and had lots of ideas offered... thanks in particular to Linda Robson-Burrell, Emma Tozer, Colleen Snyman, Harriet Masters and Mrs M. They all suggested at least one of the names we chose.

Earlier in the summer, we said that two beaver kits had been born at Knepp this year. We were wrong. We have three!

And we've named them Birch, Beech and Bay.

It's the most kits our original beaver pair have ever had in one year.

What's On at Knepp this September? Plenty!

From author suppers, to delicious dinners and from a wedding venue open day to sumptuous garden produce and tours... September at Knepp is bursting with late summer goodness.

UPDATE! Thank you all so much for your suggestions. We're taking a look at these names and we'll let you know what we decide in the next few weeks!

We're looking for 'B' names. Brooke and Banksy are the two adults. Buster and Booster were the 2023 kits. Bach and Bracken were last year’s kits.

Over 103 years ago, at dawn on 6 July 1922, two Eurasian beavers slipped into Sweden’s River Bjurälven and quietly launched one of Europe’s first beaver restoration projects.

Our adult beaver pair have had three sets of two kits for the last three summers, bringing the size of their family to eight. We look forward to watching these two grow into the formidable ecosystem engineers that their parents and older siblings are.
