Writer. Photographer. Lover of the great outdoors. Work-in-progress is a novel about time-travelling queers and dinosaurs. (Work-in-progress #2, because #1 is almost done, is about an old moose, the sun, and skinnydipping.)

a group of brilliant white pelicans flies over their own reflections in dark water
two flamingos fly over two other flamingos, standing in glittering water
A group of flamingos feeds in the shallow waters of the Ria Celestun
a reddish egret spreads their wings in a mangrove tree
Just spent a day hanging out with these gorgeous avian dinosaurs from the clade tyrannoraptora (palaeontologists know how to name 'em) on the Ria Celestun. Thanks to Mexico, Celestun, and these cool dinosaurs, for letting me hang.

I got to try these and they were amazing!

Come midwinter I have difficulty believing that this tree really looks like that half the year.

Hola back! Nice to see you here.

The skeleton of Gordo the barosaurus, a diplodocid sauropod dinosaur in the Royal Ontario Museum.
Just some sauropod pictures from the Royal Ontario Museum. Gordo the diplodocid barosaurus and a replica of the titanosaur futalognkosaurus. When writing a novel about dinosaurs it's nice to have a place like the ROM nearby.

My current writing project is heavily about the seasons and has me thinking about how, around here, there are a lot more than four. Looking forward to the tree flowers opening up again.

We got our first snow yesterday so naturally I thought about biking down to the beach. 😂
The snow is gorgeous, and a reminder that all things must rest, and that I should slow down, and and and...
And that can all be true while I get excited for the return of beach weather.

November: Snow? Not happening.
December 1st: Ta-da!
Good luck! It's a wonderful read :)

(Just me and a cottonwood on the Toronto Islands in September.)
Welllll, shit.

A palaeontologist (Jack Wolfe, 1991) found them 66 million years later, and since then other research has corroborated that the Cretaceous ended in the Northern Hemisphere's spring.

A long time ago a pond of water lilies froze solid in what is now Wyoming while they were flowering around early June. Below them was a record of the age of the dinosaurs. An asteroid had hit Chicxulub, in what is now Yucatan, causing an impact winter and dusting the frozen lilies with debris...

When I finished the edits on my book about time-travelling queers and dinosaurs (until I get it back from an editor, anyway), I went for a long hike to think about next projects. Nothing came up, but I got this picture of me being a goofball in my favourite kilt.
Being a writer is hard sometimes. 🤣
