Writer. Photographer. Lover of the great outdoors. Work-in-progress is a novel about time-travelling queers and dinosaurs. (Work-in-progress #2, because #1 is almost done, is about an old moose, the sun, and skinnydipping.)

Just spent a day hanging out with these gorgeous avian dinosaurs from the clade tyrannoraptora (palaeontologists know how to name 'em) on the Ria Celestun. Thanks to Mexico, Celestun, and these cool dinosaurs, for letting me hang.

Rouge National Urban Park to get bigger as feds scrap airport plan | The Narwhal The federal government is cancelling plans for an airport in Pickering, east of Toronto, and transferring land for the project to Parks Canada

Good news, friends. After more than fifty years, the shambling corpse of the Pickering Airport plan has been put to rest, and thousands of hectares are being added to the Rouge National Urban Park.

Getting into the woods in winter is like going to another planet. Gotta suit up. Everything that's familiar is different. Islands of ice on the water. Crystals growing on moss.

Just some sauropod pictures from the Royal Ontario Museum. Gordo the diplodocid barosaurus and a replica of the titanosaur futalognkosaurus. When writing a novel about dinosaurs it's nice to have a place like the ROM nearby.

My current writing project is heavily about the seasons and has me thinking about how, around here, there are a lot more than four. Looking forward to the tree flowers opening up again.

We got our first snow yesterday so naturally I thought about biking down to the beach. 😂
The snow is gorgeous, and a reminder that all things must rest, and that I should slow down, and and and...
And that can all be true while I get excited for the return of beach weather.

It counts if it's just in my head. The interaction between the world and my brain is where it all starts.

...When the ice thawed, they sank to the bottom of the lake, fossilizing there with debris from the asteroid. A palaeontologist (Jack Wolfe, 1991) found them 66 million years later, and since then other research has corroborated that the Cretaceous ended in the Northern Hemisphere's spring.

A water lily and water pads submerged in water.

A long time ago a pond of water lilies froze solid in what is now Wyoming while they were flowering around early June. Below them was a record of the age of the dinosaurs. An asteroid had hit Chicxulub, in what is now Yucatan, causing an impact winter and dusting the frozen lilies with debris...

Ford government to ban lawsuits against province if cyclists are hurt or killed on streets where bike lanes were removed Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria tells cyclists: for your own safety, stay off Bloor, Yonge and University when bike lanes are removed.

This is proof they know what they're doing will kill or injure people. This is a malevolent gov't. Treating it as rational is a pantomime of some fantasy benign and good faith politics of yesterlore that doesn't exist. www.thestar.com/politics/pro...

My goofy ass in a cute kilt standing in the sun by a river on an autumn day.

When I finished the edits on my book about time-travelling queers and dinosaurs (until I get it back from an editor, anyway), I went for a long hike to think about next projects. Nothing came up, but I got this picture of me being a goofball in my favourite kilt.
