Hello, I’m James, and Landscape Photographer from Yorkshire, UK. I’m currently building my 2025 portfolio and will be sharing it in December. Here are some of my favourite photographs from 2024. Thanks so much to everyone who comments, likes and follows even when I haven’t posted for months!

I can’t believe this is 2022, feels like yesterday when I first saw it. So intrinsically is this burned into my mind as ‘NORIEGA’ that it almost has a timeless quality to it.

A distant mountain under a clear, indigo sky during blue hour just before sunrise. The bottom half of the image is a crystal clear lake without a breath of wind disturbing the water. The mountain is perfectly reflected in the lake. There are two pairs of rocks in the lake in the immediate foreground. There is also a tiny band of mist at the far end of the lake. The image is a vertical composition of the 4:5 ratio.

Silence

Not a breath of wind on this serene summer morning.

‘Mussel in Blue’. A slow-shutter photo of sea foam rushing past a mussel shell on the sand during twilight. ‘Touch’. A slow-shutter photo of sea foam touching a shell on the sand during golden hour. ‘Angel Wings’. A slow-shutter photo of sea foam and a piddock (also called Angel Wings) shell on the sand. ‘Crimson’. A slow-shutter photo of sea foam and a scallop shell on the sand.

Four photos from my ‘Ghost in the Shell’ series (2013-now).

A huge curling wave in black and white. A photo of a blue wave with a slow shutter speed to achieve a painterly look. A curling green wave breaks. A huge storm wave in black and white. Spindrift and a beam of light.

I thought I’d do an introduction post as it seems the way on here. I’m a professional photographer specializing in the ocean and the coast it carves. I’m lucky to be represented by some good galleries. I also teach workshops. I’ve been full-time for 9 years now - went fast!
