Writer turned voting rights advocate. I am very probably playing video games, reading, yelling at legislators, or registering people to vote. I sometimes show up in the media but have yet to decide whether this is a good thing.

Same place folks get the idea that *they* don’t need proof of citizenship to get a TDL because “they should be able to tell I’m American just looking at me!”

<-- can't care about or focus on the tariff nonsense when Trump just openly articulated a plan to begin abducting and remanding US citizens to foreign concentration camps without due process

It’s important for people like us (cis, white, older) to risk arrest not just because our arrest experience is safer for us than BIPoC. (Still important!)

But every time they handle someone like me or Chris with kid gloves it shows the hypocrisy when cops try to defend their actions against BIPoC.

Highly relevant. I’ve been sending the story itself to people for days.

I think there may be an attempt to do that in/near Austin. Mr Doge already has a ‘company town’ in the works for Tesla employees, and is going to build an elementary school. All in the unincorporated areas.

We asked journalists around the world who have endured attacks on press freedom what advice they would give their American colleagues. We have collected their wise and remarkable responses in a special issue of @niemanreports.org. “Dear America,” they wrote.

Be sure to keep your light bright and shining - you never know just how many people you may be a lighthouse for. You never know how many people find their way home, even in the wildest storms, because you are there.

I will never understand what makes a person so sure of their own infallibility that they will double down on something that ends someone’s life.

Watch “one person one vote?” on PBS if you get a chance. Very good doc on the EC and why we have it, against the backdrop of Colorado’s referendum on the national popular vote compact.

Also incidentally includes Lauren Boebert’s origin story, a dude who was an elector for Kanye, and Jan6 up close.
