the fact that "don't deadname and misgender trans people even when they're awful" is something we have to constantly repeat rather than common sense really illustrates both how little we're listened to and how conditional our being seen as people is

We don't gain anything as a community from locking away the language that communicates the very base experience of being plural. That wasn't cool of me to participate in. Thank you for your patience, and for sharing so much with me!

I think part of why i had such an issue with it to begin with, is partly about my own journey of discovering my own system. Its a scary experience on its own, and i wished to be able to speak about it and connect with people over it online while poking as few bears as possible.

i was under the impression that "system" not only refers to being plural, but specifically refers to disordered plurality that includes amnesia barriers? In any case, i would never actively stop someone from using the term, as i don't know what goes on in their head.

i wasn't aware of this. i do find plural conversations a little hard to navigate, bc it seems most info i've found so far is claimed as misinfo by someone. do you have a source you generally consider trustworthy i could check out? (it's alright if not sdj)

i personally prefer union or collective to avoid that kind of confusion (despite being at least slightly disordered, im just very early in my discovery of my union, i think it's 2,5 months at this point)

thats a fair view on it. I have heard a lot of disordered systems be confused about some non-disordered plurals usage of the term, because it to them has an extra connotation of including the dissociation, communication issues, and other potential symptoms.

I know people who are unquestioningly plural who do not fulfill the criteria for a OSDD/DID diagnosis. I cant just deny their existence. But that doesnt mean i think they should use medicalized terms (system, so on), because those terms exist to describe something specific (5/??)

the disorders are severely underresearched as is, why would plurality that doesn't cause as much distress be highly researched? Science is about documenting the reality we see, not create rules that people absolutely have to go by. (4/??)

bc oml the stress of having to constantly look at people who have it easier than you, and boil down your highly intrusive disorder to something small and maybe even quirky is.... sickening to say the least. I won't sit and act like plurality can only exist in DID/OSDD (3/??)
